Happy Tuesday! Got a wonderful share for Try Stampin on Tuesday today!

We have a new layout challenge –

Challenge #366. Optional Theme : Critter Crazy

I immediately went to this soon-to-retire stamp set, We Must Celebrate, from the Occasions Catalog because of all the cute animals!

I stamped the focal image. Then I realized it was slightly larger than the framelit I was using. No problem! I just cut around the ears, foot and tail of the animals to make it work! I love how those parts hang over.

To highlight the animals, I colored the background using the lighter Blends markers in Pool Party. This was accented by the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper. Sadly, it recently went on the retired list, sold out quickly, and is no longer available.

Don’t Box Me In – Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop

Happy Saturday my blogging friends! Time for a Create with Connie and Mary Saturday blog hop!

Our theme this week features boxes!

Handmade boxes are the best because you can customize them to just about any size you need. And, with all the fabulous Designer Series Papers Stampin’ Up has – you can’t go wrong!

I made this darling 3 x 3 box with a peachy top –

With an adorable tag to match –

I started with a Very Vanilla base of 7 x 7. Scored at 2 inches on all four sides. Make cuts and assemble, creating a basic open box.

The lid is (just retired) Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper cut at 6 x 6.

It is has two scores lines on all four sides. To make a snug fit on the lid, whatever your base is made of, take a straight scrap of the same card stock, fold it in half and place it on the left side of your Simply Scored to move the paper slightly away from the left side. Score at 1/2, and 1 1/2. You will cut away a few of the extra pieces, making this also a basic ‘box’ that is used as the lid.

I decorated the box when it was done! I cut a couple of peaches from the paper and stamped the perfect image from Beautiful Bouquet!

Hippity Hoppy Easter Favor – Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop

Happy Create with Connie and Mary blog hop day!

Our theme this week features Easter favors.

Perfect, as I made these sweet little Easter bunny treats for my co-workers and Card Buffet attendees on Sunday.

Aren’t these just too sweet? I originally saw these from a European demonstrator. I modified them to fit American nugget chocolates.

Super, super easy!

Bunny is a strip of designer series paper, 1 x 12. Score at 2, 5 1/4, 6 3/4 and 10. Nugget wrap is 1 x 3.
Use Tear & Tape on the ends, folding in, towards the center on the ends.
The two center score lines, fold towards each other.
On one of the ends, doesn’t matter which one, where the edge is adhered, apply another strip of Tear & Tape.
Stand bunny up, and adhere two ears together.
Wrap nugget and insert in bunny base.
Decorate. I used the Silver Baker’s Twine from the Spring mini to tie around the ears. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes punches with the Classic Label Punch. Pink flower is from the Petals & More atop the trimmed Leaf Punch

The side view shows the beautiful colors of the paper –

It took way longer to write out the directions than it did to whip up a batch of these! it’s a nice favor because you can use any kind of designer series or patterned paper you have on hand. Great for those scrap strips too!

I am so excited to go forward to Debbie Henderson, and back to Mary Brown to see their Easter treats! I might be making even more treats for friends!!!

Mitten Mitten

Happy Thursday! Welcome to a Create with Connie and Mary new sketch challenge.

Today we have some beautiful colors to inspire you –

When I looked at these colors, I had thoughts of warmth and softness. So that is what I translated onto my card –

Don’t these look like really soft cozy mittens? Amazing how you can invoke this in a card design!

To start off, I used the Smitten Mittens bundle to create this card. I stamped the mittens and trim on a sheet from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper (it’s actually the same sheet, just front and back!). Added the sentiment and stamped the snowflakes for a little dimension.

When it was finished, I felt it needed a little something, so I added the baker’s twine to the mitten edges.

Watercooler Wednesday 143 – Gail’s Feminine Anything Goes Challenge

Got a wonderful Feminine challenge starting today from Gail –

I went with this lovely stamp set and Designer Series Paper to create this –

It’s one of those neat, fancy folds! See when you open it –

It truly is lovely! And quite simple too!

I started with a card base of 4 1/2 x 9, scored at 3 1/3. The second panel is 8 x 3, scored at 4. The Designer Series Paper is added to the card base inside and outside flap. So easy!

Fall Card with non-Fall Colors- Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop

I decided to go with a classic black and used some Designer Series Paper to compliment the leaf cut outs –

For a little added drama, I made the 2 strips a little shorter along the Designer Series Paper panel. Baker’s Twine always adds the right touch! Added embellishment here, the Basic Black Rhinestone Jewels! So pretty!

Freshly Made Sending Lots of Love

I have created a special card that is very near and dear to my heart today for Freshly Made Sketches. It’s their 300th challenge!

They are so special to me because it was one of the first challenges that I started following and playing along with. I was SO inspired by them. The clean and simple style really helped shape who I am as a designer. Now, I’m on three teams! (Of course FMS, is a dream design team to be a part of!!! Goals, right? Goals! )

I hadn’t really played with this Whole Lot of Lovely Suite and I felt it was a great time to pull it out!

So bright! So fun! So full of energy!

I used lots of dimension here as well. And, yes, pulled out the new paper snips to do ~~some~~ lots of cutting around the words!

I did struggle with this choice of paper. Normally, I do not have this struggle……

….and another contender –

It’s funny seeing the design in a blog how it looks different! But, I stand by my choice!

Congrats to Freshly Made Sketches on their 300th challenge! Simply put, here’s to many more clean and simple inspirational sketches to challenge and inspire us!
