Our theme this week features stencils!

Since I didn’t have any current stencils, I created my own from a repeated die cut shape from the Something Fancy Dies. Since it is a small stencil, Sponge Daubers are the plan!

I loved the challenge for this as I didn’t have any stencils. But, you can totally make your own!

Welcome to Wednesday my stampin friends!

On Wednesdays we have a new challenge at Make The Cards Challenge! Here is our newest inspiration to get you creating –

That’s right, a question mark next to the stencil. I don’t have any stencils. Time to get creative!

I knew the direction my card was going in. But, again, no stencils or even better, specific stencils! So, I made my own!

I got to work with some ink and sponge daubers, yes, I have those!

Viola! A stenciled background! Pretty nice if I do say so myself! With the magic of some additional ink and stamps – i have a background and magically A CARD!

I just started adding layers of stamping! The leaves were first.

Then came the hearts because of the sentiment.

I had already stamped the squirrels and fussy cut them. I just had to figure out the sentiment.

And easy peasy thought to tie in the colors!

Not too bad for a non-stenciler, right? Lol! It is a bit busy of of card for me usually – but, it is just too stinkin’ cute! I’d love to read your thoughts on it!

Our theme this week features ideas on how to use the new Soft Pastel Assortment Chalks –

SOFT PASTELS ASSORTMENT

I went with a simple technique that has been around for a long time, Poppin Pastels. To keep up with my theme this week, I used it with the Hydrangea Haven stamp set –

Simply gorgeous, right???

Simple as well! To create this, I first stamped the flower image in Versamark. It is a sticky ink and stays tacky for a bit enabling you to add something to it such as embossing powder, foil, or chalks! It is quite versatile.

To apply the chalks, I took the two colors I wanted to use and scribbled on a piece of scratch paper about the size of a quarter.

I used a Sponge Dauber to pick up the first chalk color, Gorgeous Grape. I then tapped the flower area that was stamped in Versamark so the color would adhere! I also used a rubbing motion once I cover the areas with the initial pat.

I then went to the other color, Mossy Meadow, with the same technique. Once finished, I took a soft bristle (glitter) brush to remove the excess chalk dust.

This just makes for a soft, pretty coloring.

I added the embossed stitching using the Stitched With Whimsy Dies to add some simple detailing to the card.

You can set the chalk color once finished, although I did not.
