This is for We Create! Our theme we work with is to either create a card then step it up or create two cards using the same layout.

This time, I chose to create a card and make it twice using the same layout. Here is the fist one –

It is sort of simple in design until you open it –

It’s a gift card holder! And, it used the same size card stock as a regular card, it’s just scored differently!

The other card uses the remaining half of the Real Red card stock –

It’s a way fancier front, but it uses the same basic layout.

I love both of them! The retired Red Foil Paper (it’s still on the Clearance Rack) and Pom-Pom Trim was a great added bonus here!

Cupcakes, Clearance and Special Deals

That’s right.

Let’s start with the Cupcake –

I made this using the framelits and no stamping! Well, there is for the greeting, but you get what I mean.

I used the cool new Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate for the bottom dotted portion of the card. It’s flipped over to look silver. Pretty nifty. And, it’s on sale in the Special Deals!! So are the Cupcake Cutouts Framelits!!

I just love the repeated soft stamping of the birthday greeting. Matches the silver look on the bottom quite well! And, using the negative from the Red Foil Swirls, quite cool!

Yes. Two things going on here.

First, it’s my anniversary. I know. Another life event happening on the SAME day as a card challenge – on a challenge blog that I just recently became a Design team member of…….

This week over at Create with Connie and Mary, we have another great sketch to get you thinking and get you using all some of those things from your stash! See the sketch –

Nice layout, right? I certainly thought so.

Since it is my anniversary and I needed a card……..I created this –

As you can see, I took to the fussy cutting again. For both sentiments too! They came from Watercolor Words. I cut the ‘you’ from the ‘just for you’ apart!

The lighter color of the words is on purpose as I used the Basic Grey Archival Ink Pad. I wanted that softer look here. And, you can’t go wrong with red foil paper to express love.

I’ve got some celebratin’ to do – 26 years! Wahoo! Love you my dear Ed!!!

Watercooler Wednesday, Challenge 57

These weeks are just flying by, aren’t they?

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means –

Yep. Time for another challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges. This is a wonderful layout sketch from Deborah –

It’s great, right? I really liked it.

I had some pieces strewn about the craft room from this card. So I decided to play around with them. Glue them. Trim them. Glue some more. Until I came up with an appealing arrangement.

Since these roses are cut from the Red Foil Sheets, they really carry their own in a design. So all my other layers and pieces are Whisper White as to not compete with this gorgeous arrangement.

All the other layers are flat to the card.

I am in LOVE with how this turned out! It’s stunning in person. I can’t wait for the time or right person I give this to. It’s going to blow someone away!

A side-note about my background in the picture today. Originally, I took the picture like this –

It was way too washed out. I think the addition of the brown kraft was just the right photographic touch to make this all white, mostly all white, card really stand out.

Anniversary Love

I don’t normally post on Saturday, but I just had to get this in before the deadline.

A challenge being the deadline. I so loved this challenge over at Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration –

It’s simply my favorite!

I had some swaps I needed to get finished. This was the perfect inspiration I needed to get these done. And in the mail!

I had made these fronts but could not think past them. So I cut them. And framed them. And topped them.

These just turned out to be some fabulously beautiful anniversary cards!

A nice sort of side view to see that I adhered the vellum with Dimensionals behind the banner on the card. Vellum. Adhesive always shows through. This was a great hiding trick.

To make this flower…..Grumble. Grumble. I’ve seen these all over. And some great tutorial “how to’s” as well. Nothing worked for me except a layer with the Magnetic Platform, clear plate, face up card stock (here, Red Foil), dyer sheet, the Rose thinlits, and the other clear plate.

Once I made a few passes back and forth, I removed the whole flower, die and all.

(Oooppps, petal came out.) I added the thinnest line of Tombow Liquid Glue to all the parts of the flower except for the outline. Too much glue here and it will ooze out onto your thinlits!

I placed the whole glued up flower on my card stock , glue side down, and pressed firmly with my finger and the stylus in the intricate parts. Sometimes even using the piercer to make sure everything was adhered nicely!

I carefully poked through the holes in the die to release it.

What came out was the flower outline and the little pieces of dryer sheet. The inside of the flower remained adhered to the panel.

Whew. It really was so much better for me.

The theme for the month is, no doubt, Love. I just got the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits and I have been playing around with it. I decided to go with this –

A nice little ensemble using both the heart and the negative left over.

The bag was a take on a Purse Bag Box I made here. The leftover heart resembled a sort of heart of flames or something.

The sides I did a little different. I used two pieces of trimmed 6×6 DSP and adhered it all around the bottom. I pinched the sides together instead of overlapping them. Simply for a different look.

I made the tissue shreds with red tissue paper cut with the Fringe Scissors. So easy and quick to make your own!

The negative image is really cool, especially in this Red Foil. I liked it and it caught my eye. This also looks masculine. Hard to pull off in the realm of paper crafts!

The card is a larger, 5×5 card. I wanted to accommodate this wonderful heart.

I backed the heart and trimmed around it. Daunting. But, it needed it. I accented the heart with various sizes of rhinestones. The DSP is up on Dimensionals as well as the heart. It really pops!

I think these will make two nice surprises for my husband. Because, after 25 years plus…….
