…..And the Winner Is

Happy Sunday! Finally taking a little time for myself! Decided to create a card.

I’ve Pinned several different challenges as usual, but now I’m trying to get back around to playing with some of them. Since tonight, many will watch the Oscars, I thought why not create a card for that?

So, I went to Freshly Made Sketches and decided to play along with this layout –

My card is fresh, fun and simple! It’d make a great jacket for an Oscar nominee list or a party invite or just a simple birthday card.

The star of this card is the Gold Foil Paper. This stuff is a bit hard to photograph. I added a little extra with the Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape.

I wanted to coordinate the edging around the Foil with my sentiment. In my retired bin of punches, I found the Pinking Hearts Border Punch which works perfectly.

‘The Winner’ is from a main catalog stamp set Blue Ribbon. We have sort of forgotten about those, haven’t we?

I was able to use the new Starburst Framelit Dies here as well.

As an accent color, I thought Real Red was real appropriate!

Summer Sunshine, Welcome

Summer sunshine, welcome? Why, yes. Today is the summer solstice, June 21st.

Here in Texas, however, it’s always sunny. And, it always feels like summer!

To showcase my homage to summer, I decided to go with Freshly Made Sketches, challenge #91. It was the perfect sketch for a simple card that simply, shines! No pun or sun intended! Lol!

Simple card to create. I embossed the background in the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder – so sad it didn’t carry over. Made my ‘sun’ from a circle, several Pennant Punches and, surprise, the new Mosaic Punch. Did you realize that? Stamped a sentiment. Made a border. And, done!

So, happy first day of summer! And, happy Friday! Here’s to getting through another scorcher of a summer.

Pinwheel Baby Fun

Pinwheels. Love these fun 3-D additions to a card! Don’t you? Just look at how fun & sweet my card share is today!

My inspiration came from two places. The colors for my card, Bashful Blue and Midnight Muse are from Dynamic Duos Color Challenge #54 this week. And, the wonderful layout comes from Technostamper. This is the Monday Lunchtime Sketch #265.

Why a baby card? No new babies to speak of. But, inspiration can come from odd places. Mine came after I read about the newborn baby boy stuck in a pipe in China. So, it just struck me to combine the two challenges to create this adorable number for him. Although, he doesn’t necessarily have new parents yet.

I just went through stuff I had. The ribbon is long since retired. Same for the punch that I made a simple, cute border to tie in the colors. I thought the center of the pinwheel coordinated well with the border, don’t you? And, you guessed it. My base is Naturals White, but my stamped image is on regular Whisper White. The naturals card stocks do not accept stampin’ too well. My pinwheel started life as a retired 3×3 piece of DSP, one of those 6×6 paper packs we had at one time.

All in all, I LOVE how this turned out. Now, I really want to find someone special to receive this card!

Happy Anniversary Love

Has it been another year already? Has it been, gasp, 23 already? Why, yes, it has! Time sure does fly!

In case you didn’t realize from content clues, we are celebrating our 23rd anniversary! Lol!

We will celebrate later today. But, in Libby fashion, I made a card, a banner and these days, a blog posting for the occasion!

The card I made follows this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Challenge #82. I must say, this sketch totally through me for a loop! But, I managed to come up with this card. I like it. It’s unique.

The colors I chose came from a color challenge I missed a few weeks back, but loved them so much! I still decided to use them. The banner coordinated too, of course.

Happy Anniversary, love. Many more adventures await. Got to run. Busy day. Busy anniversary day.

Happiness Always

Happiness Always Paulina and Larry on your upcoming anniversary.

I decided I was going to make my brother and his dear wife a card. I was stumped on how to execute it. So, I saw this really different sketch challenge on Technostamper. I decided to play along!

I combined through my stamps, punches, and papers and came up with the following card. Yes, I dug deep with lots of retired stuff. That’s what happens when you have lots of stuff. But, I think I came up with just the right combination to make this a really special card. What do you think?
