Today is my youngest daughters 22 birthday! GAH!! We were sitting here just wondering where the time went…..parents of young ones – it goes by so quickly!

She will be home at the end of the week from college – a quick Christmas break.

In mom fashion, I always send a birthday box of goodies. One of the packages was too big for my flat rate postal boxes. I had to wrap it separate from the other packages. It became my inspiration. We always need those.

So, everything got wrapped in cut up, thick, brown, grocery sack bags. I loved it. She’s a big recycler. This was perfect!

And, of course I had to carry that over into my card –

Just birthday wishes. Plain and simple. You can even see a crease from the bag in the front panel!

Because everything was strategically crammed packed into the box, I did not take a picture of the gifts. However, I could not resist a picture of this guy –

Omg! These mini pinatas are SO stinkin’ cute! I put one of these in my others daughters birthday box too. This one just happened to make his way into the photo shoot!

Five Flower Congratulations!

I’m in the midst of preparing for a Card Buffet this weekend and my 3rd Annual Christmas Card Class….and, I’m easily distracted trying to be creative.

I love to look at sketch challenges and have several pinned for future reference when designing cards.

This one at Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration caught my attention this week –

It’s fun and simple. I played around with it and decided to turn it around –

I just thought it fit best with my flowers.

I’d been meaning to make a card for one of my customers. She is expanding her family with the addition of another baby. So, I thought the five flowers was perfect! I don’t always like to go with a baby theme.

I love having retired products in my stash. The stamp set and the ribbon were just what I needed. The ribbon just so happened to be the perfect color and length to wrap that layer. And, of course the ink pad still worked perfectly too! I loved this Midnight Muse blue! Perhaps it will make a comeback.

Ok. back to creating for the Card Buffet. Sigh.

Shakin’ It Up for a Birthday

Taking a little time away from class prep to share this terrific shaker card.

A customer asked me to have a shaker card on the Card Buffet last month because she too was having trouble making them work.

I’ve tried lots of different ways. This, by far, has got to be the best.

Big News, Baby

That’s right, Big News. In many ways.

I’ll start first off with Stampin’ Up. They have added four new Sale-a-Bration FREE items! You can see them here. Can’t wait to play with the Vellum! And, oh that coordinating stamp set! The In-Color thick Baker’s Twine and buttons too – so many possibilities!

Secondly, due to quality issues, the Blendbilities markers are no longer available. As a free Sale-a-Bration item or to order them outright.

On to my card share for the day. It was on both my January and February Card Buffets. I have so many friends around me expecting – I was inspired.

Isn’t it adorable? I thought it was very gender neutral with this color. I was able to make several of these cards for all the upcoming new arrivals in no time.

Congratulation go out to co-workers, Melanie and Gladys, my customer, Kelly, a friend, Valerie and Charlene for upcoming great grand baby. These are all Big News for their upcoming additions. So happy for all of them.

Stair-Step Halloween

Happy Thursday! One more day until – H A L L O W E E N – yippee!

At my last Card Buffet, I was asked by on of the attendees to create a stepped up Halloween Birthday themed card. The challenge was on.

I tried several different cards . Several different techniques. This is a Card Buffet after all – I try to keep projects somewhat do-able.

Then, the lightbulb came on. This is what I came up with –

And, it was a hit! Yay!

It’s one of those stair-step cards! Quite cool I might add.

Thanks to the Fall Fest stamp set and the Fun Fall framelits – it couldn’t be easier. I had pre-cut and scored the card bases (I always do, spoiled customers). My favorite is the little ghost peeking out from the side. I put a Dimensional on the front of him so he stood back a little bit. Just a minor detail.

Since this card was favored SO much, I modified it a bit to create these –

I gave these to co-worker kids/grandkids and mailed some to my great nieces and nephews. As a treat, they contained a gift card on the inside. Perfect little treat I thought.
