Here is our newest two week challenge –

Optional Theme : Pastels

I got this! I paired this soon to retire Share What You Love Designer Series Paper with the Cake Builder punch to create this quick and easy elegant birthday card –

I was running wayyy late last week for my May Card Buffet and created this card, start to finish, literally as my friends were arriving to stamp!

It was a total hit! Although there were lots of great cards to choose from, almost everyone made this card and the even bought this paper. Heck, I even broke down and bought another pack!

It was quite simple to create, embossed Smokey Slate panel, added a strip of Designer Series Paper (DSP), stamped a greeting, punched the cake out of the same DSP and put that on a layered punched circle. Done!

Easy. Quick. Elegant.

Welcome to our inspirational Create with Connie and Mary Saturday blog hop!

Our theme this week features cards that move.

I decided to try a Step Out Panel Card –

Well, I made two! They were soo much fun to create!

I just couldn’t decide on the focal point!

Here is a side / back picture –

You can see how the card stands alone!

Directions –

Mango Melody base, 4 1/4 x 8 1/2
score at 1/2, 1 1/2, 3, 4
Mango Melody focal panel, 2 1/2 x 4 1/4
score at 1/2, 1 1/2
top DSP, 2 3/4 x 4
strip DSP, 1 1/4 x 4
Whisper White, 2 3/8 x 2 1/4
Whisper White back, 4 x 4 1/4
back strip DSP, 1/2 x 4
for card base, fold score lines to create a ‘box’, adhere 1/2 strip with Tear & Tape
for focal panel, fold 2 score lines creating a ‘hook’, using Tear & Tape for both : adhere bottom part to card box lower portion, adhere 1/2 strip to upper portion of card front towards the middle
adhere DSP panel to top portion and strip
adhere Whisper White focal panel
punch cake pedestal
stamp cake and punch
adhere pedestal and cake to Whisper White
adhere Whisper White to card back
adhere DSP strip to bottom of Whisper White on the back
done!

These fold flat into an A2 envelope too!

I couldn’t decide which cake I liked better. So, I just showed you both!

Grapefruit Grove Piece of Cake

Hello Wednesday!

Hello followers!

How about some freshly made fun today!?

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches with their newest challenge –

A simply done sketch that has soo many possibilities.

I am so drawn to the fresh Grapefruit Grove In-Color these days! Glad it is not retiring soon! Whew!

And, glad that I am discovering its beauty! Guess because its starting to feel a lot like spring around here!

I was also inspired to use the Piece of Cake bundle!

Quite stunning, right?

I started with stamping the words along a strip of Whisper White. This is a clear stamp so it was pretty easy!

After a couple of attempts to get the right spacing on the cakes, I settled on this layout. Also, pretty easy to stamp with a clear stamp.

I added a strip of 6×6 In-Color Grapefruit Grove along the side adding the sentiment strip on top.

After assembling the card, I decided I’d take it a step further and add punched cakes for a little *pop* of detail!

Done!

I couldn’t resist playing with this Piece of Cake Bundle –

The Cake Builder Punch is currently unavailable, but…..as soon as it is, it’s a must have!

I combined it with the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper and an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Everything just works so well together!

You Sweet Thing

It’s Thursday, you know what that means! Time for a new Create with Connie and Mary challenge!

This layout will be a two week challenge –

Fabulous, go to sketch!

I decided to create a birthday card, Christmas style, using new products!

Light, fresh colors here!

I used the Santa’s Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper as my starting point.

One of the patterns is a fuzzy, flocked striped pattern. I used that paper to punch the cake. Its from the new Piece of Cake bundle, a punch that cuts the cake and the pedestal.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set in the bundle, Piece of Cake. It’s really cute. I’m going to get lots of milage from this duo!

Special Birthday Celebration

Second post today because this is very near and dear to me.

It is my daughters birthday –

Can you guess how old? Lol!

I played around with a new bundle that will be available in January, the Piece of Cake Bundle. It’s a stamp set and coordinating punch.

I stamped everything in Balmy Blue. The icing and the candles, I colored in using a retired gold marker.

I punched the candles out and placed them around the pedestal cake. It made a really pretty, whimsical design.

It has been a big year for our daughter. We are very proud of her and all her accomplishments! This next year will only be big and better!

Wishing her a very special birthday, just as special as she is! Happy Birthday, Emily!
