So, you saw my card Saturday, right? It was a great card. And it almost made the Card Buffet.

But, I felt it lacked something. So, I tweaked it a little. This is the result –

I am more than happy with the results!

I have a quick share today before my Card Buffet.

I really love this idea of a simple card and a stepped up version. A lot of stampers go through this process anyway in creating cards. I know I did with this card –

It’s nice. It’s simple. It’d be great for a guy!

Got one for you, any guesses on the DSP?

This card sat on the Buffet board until right before the class.

Hi stampers! Time for a try Stampin’ Or Not On Tuesday challenge!

Today we have a great ‘go to’ sketch for you to play along with –

Optional Technique : Embossing

I was stumped on this great layout because I wanted to use some new DSP I had. I came up with this card –

I think the sentiment doesn’t really go with the style of the paper to me. But, it really flowed much better after I added the embossing to the stamped sentiment area.

The look was so much more put together.

I reversed the sentiment and the focal image. Sometimes you just have to do that in order for it to flow!

Wacky Watercooler May Blog Hop

Welcome! It’s time for the Wacky Watercooler May Blog Hop!!!

You may have come from the talented Marsha Reed’s blog. If not, I’m glad you are joining us. This weekend our hop will have three projects.

I decided to go with a fun, whimsical masculine theme in addition to the three projects –

ONE. Something that is retiring I will miss.

Mine is the basic shaped framelits and basic shaped punches. There is just too many to work with here or to list. I created this card with a few of my favorites – the larger circle framelits and a few of the handheld basic shaped punches.

This card is a 4 inch round card, made using the Circles Collection Framelits.

I made the ‘cake slice’ using the retiring Scalloped Oval Punch, Chevron Punch, and the Cherry On Top Washi Tape. I used the retiring Something to Say Stamp Set (oh yeah, it’s on SALE). Here is a tutorial how to make this cake slice.

TWO. Masculine project, made with retiring or carryover items.

I made this card using retiring the Circles Framelits, Cherry On Top Washi Tape, and again, the Something to Say Stamp. The card stock and D A D stamp will carry over (whew!).

And, of course the coordinating inside. It’s just too cute not to show.

THREE. New, upcoming item or a carryover that we really like.

Well, I have not done a pre-order (I know, what’s up with that?). So, I went with this –

The Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I used the same D A D carryover stamp set, Party with Cake, and added the also carrying over set, Timeless Textures. The Triple Banner Punch and Stapler – yep – carrying over!

The pull out for the bag. Can’t forget that! It’s just as cute. Great to add a gift card or little treat on the card too!

So, again, a nice spread of fun, whimsical, coordinating ‘manly’ items here. All the fussy cutting…….ahhhh…..I love it! Fussy cutting is therapy for me!! Lol!!

Yes, at first I was thrown for a loop. I’ll admit it. Being on the Design Team doesn’t make these challenges any easier. But, alas, after a night’s rest it came to me –

The stars and sentiment are nicely popped up too.

And, of course, the matching inside!!

It’s terrific isn’t it? I love it. It just might make its way to the Card Buffet this weekend. Fun. Happy.

It’s Thursday. Thursday around here are my design cards for Create with Connie and Mary!

This week we have a color challenge –

Very nice colors to work with that said, ‘manly’ to me. So that’s what I went with!

It is a bit early for a Father’s Day card – but, this too will be here before we know it!

Don’t you just love the fussy cutting?? I know – it can be a challenge! But, I love it! I just modified the stamped image to create the additional words, D A D ! It’s from Party with Cake. And, it will be in the new catalog! Yippee!!

….and, the word Y A Y for the inside!

I truly enjoyed creating this card. It was just fun! I even asked my hubs what he thought. “Clean and simple, it’s a guy card”. Good enough for me!

Wacky Watercooler March Blog Hop

Whew! What a busy few weeks it’s been!

For the next few days, I’m joining up with Wacky Watercooler Stamping and their March Blog Hop, Fun Folds!

This is perfect for me because I love fun folds! Check out the ensemble I have created for this –

Fun Folds can be kind of tricky because it’s like reinventing the wheel. Most of these we have already seen. Except for one of the one I’m sharing today.

First off, have you ever heard of a Dutch fold? No, it’s not a new fold, but I received a swap using this fold and thought I’d share it –

Opened, it’s really cool –

The top flips up and the bottom two pieces swing open! Quite cool and fun!

The next one is called a Triangle Fold card –

Just a nifty little square until you open it –

May be hard to tell in the photo, but both flaps are folded back.

The last Fun Fold is one I created. I call it a mini Triple Accordion Fold. Mini because it’s finished size is 3 1/2 x 5. It will fit our note card sized envelopes!

And, when it’s opened it looks really cool and will stand on its own –

So, all of my cards opened –

For me, I liked going with the same card stock, DSP and sentiment. I really love how they came together!
