Celebrate Summertime

Ha! Ha! I have to laugh. Because not too many people want to ‘celebrate’ a Texas summertime heat. Where the temps reach 100 and so does the humidity!

However, many of you would like to celebrate summertime! As do the designers over at Nacho Average Challenges –

That’s right. This is their current challenge and I just had to play along!

Summertime makes me think of sitting on a beach –

So, that’s where I went with my design.

I made my water a pretty torn Dapper Denim and Marina Mist blue. Had it been in Galveston’s water, it’d been brown.

I did kind of take a cue from our gorgeous Texas skies by adding the big fluffy clouds! The beach ball just seemed an appropriate ‘pop’ of color the card needed!

When I created this card, I used scrapped stamped images. For the life of me, I can not remember how cut out the word Celebrate out. It’s perfect – but I can not tell you why! But, it looks awesome on the card!

Mouse, Cheese and a Nacho

Ahhhh, to just be playing with punches and framelits and stamps just for fun!

Long ago, I used to participate in Nacho Average Challenges and now their back with challenges! Yay!!!

Just look at this simply wonderful sketch –

I was drawn to it! I just had to play.

And, that’s just what I did –

This just made for a simply adorable card!!

I used the new Layering Circles Framelits to make all the cheesy holes too. Couldn’t be any simpler.

Since it does put holes in the card, it made it a little flimsy to stand tall for pictures.

When the card is opened, you can fully see the back of the mouse and how he is assembled. He’s even cute from the back!

Now, I’m excited to go ‘play’ with more stuff!!

Happy Summer Solstice

Yep. That’s right. Today is the first official day of summer! Around here, it feels like summer has being going on since February.

Trying to get creative thoughts flowing – why not create a card just for the occasion? Ok, I will!

I whipped this up in no time. As I’m ‘cleaning’ (we do that in a craft room?????), I ran across some retired DSP from Sale-a-Bration that I used for the background and burst. Why not use instead of cleaning it up? Works for me!

So that’s just what I did!

I think I’ll use this card in a few days. I have just the perfect person for it.

Guess I’ll get back to ‘cleaning’. Actually, I’m having an Open House on Sunday and I’m creating the make’n takes for the event.

Watercooler Wednesday, Challenge 57

These weeks are just flying by, aren’t they?

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means –

Yep. Time for another challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges. This is a wonderful layout sketch from Deborah –

It’s great, right? I really liked it.

I had some pieces strewn about the craft room from this card. So I decided to play around with them. Glue them. Trim them. Glue some more. Until I came up with an appealing arrangement.

Since these roses are cut from the Red Foil Sheets, they really carry their own in a design. So all my other layers and pieces are Whisper White as to not compete with this gorgeous arrangement.

All the other layers are flat to the card.

I am in LOVE with how this turned out! It’s stunning in person. I can’t wait for the time or right person I give this to. It’s going to blow someone away!

A side-note about my background in the picture today. Originally, I took the picture like this –

It was way too washed out. I think the addition of the brown kraft was just the right photographic touch to make this all white, mostly all white, card really stand out.

Snowman Can Hold It

Christmas is getting closer……I still have lots to do, do you?

These were also for my Christmas Gift Card Class. A surprise project that was in the works and didn’t make the group photo, lol!

These are wonderful because they can hold a gift card or a little gift or they also make a great candy holder – the possibilities are endless!

I started with two Fry Box back pieces. I adhered all the ‘face’ cut outs and then Sticky Stripped the two together.

This retired Sweater Trim was PERFECT for this. Soft, easy to tie and flexible to go around the box curves.

Go make a few of these – they are great!

Balloon Fun Birthday, Card #2

Posting another one of my Card Buffet creations. This one is just perfect for a child’s birthday, boy or girl. See how sweet and cute –

This too, was a popular card at the class. However, you should have seen the supply box! Wow, just about every punch I had went into making this little cutie. My poor Wall of Punches was empty!!! This card was really easy to make, it just took several steps. A card like this really shows the versatility of Stampin’ Up’s punches. I think it was worth it. Don’t you agree?

Supplies. Party This Way Stamp Set (FREE during Sale-A-Bration!). Basic Black Ink. Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, and Old Olive Card Stocks. Brights Pattern Pack Series DSP. Full Heart, Owl Builder, Cupcake Builder, Modern Label, and Word Window Punches (see what I mean? 5 punches!). Adorning Accents Embossing Folder. White Bakers Twine.

Now, I must admit. For this card I definitely had some inspiration. Thanks Anja Beckmann! I had seen 2 cards of hers that were similar.

Paper Bag Treat Holder

OK, so this is a really cute, easy, recycled treat holder that I figured out from our Holiday Mini Catalog . I wasn’t sure how theirs was made – but, I stared at it long enough and I figured it out.

Well, this is my version –

I made mine with a grocery store paper bag. One of my favorite stores STILL has them! Believe it or not. And, they are unprinted – heavy weight – bags. More than perfect for this project. If yours are printed, just turn that to the inside before making these. Trust me, people are going to care more about the candy than whats printed on the inside! And, if you are a demonstrator, you can use the brown wrap that comes in your stamp order.

I folded my bag and used the Scallop Square to cut the shape out. Make sure that you place the fold at the bottom, one scallop up to retain your fold and to create a bottom that is sealed. I applied Sticky Strip to the 2 sides. I then ran it through the Spider Web Embossing Folder for some added texture. (We made these at Stamp Camp and used other folders as well – GREAT results too!!) Added a little moon out of Daffodil Delight, a scrap strip of Pumpkin Pie and an Owl from the Owl Builder Punch using the hostess set from the Holiday Mini, Warmest of Wishes.

Very, very, easy!
