We made it! Friday at last!

Got another nifty Fun Fold to use up some more of that paper hoard you have going there!

There are several versions of a Double Gate Fold out there. Here is a similar one I made back in January. This one is a bit different –

This paper makes this Gate Fold! I LOVE IT!

Here is how I created it –

Real Red ‘card’ base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
DSP strip is 5 1/4″ x 12″
score DSP at 2″, 4″, 8″, 10″
mark DSP 2″ from top down on each side
make a diagonal (45º) cut from outer scoreline to 2″ mark on each side (they will be opposite)
fold two inner score lines of DSP in
fold two outer score lines of DSP back (card panel should meet in the middle)
adhere removed piece at the bottom, flipped to reveal other side, to the bottom of the panel
Real Red front center, 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
Basic White front center, 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
inside Basic White 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
adhere DSP ‘card’ to card base
adhere Basic White to inside
adhere Basic White to Real Red
adhere half Real Red on the side of card front
add deer, sentiment

So, what do you think? Pretty cool, huh?

Happy day!

Welcome to another Fun Fold Friday!

I am featuring a Double Gate Fold card today, actually a couple of them, lol! Once I started, I could not stop making them!

I used the Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper for these –

This paper is from Sale-a-bration, the Berry Blessing Bundle –

But, I used a different stamp set, Happy Thoughts –

These sentiments are just THE best for any occasion.

I used the Tasteful Labels Dies for the sentiments. While still in the metal die, I flipped it over and ran my score stylus all around the edge to give the added line and height border. I did this on both.

The purple card, I traced the die and carefully fussy cut to have a border.

Just two different ways to use dies!

I couldn’t decide what type of closure I wanted to have.

This one has a belly band that slides off.

The other card I used a velcro closure –

It doesn’t keep the card as closed, but it’ll either be in an envelope or out and standing up.

Both are nice!

So, how did I create these? This is not a new fold, but here are my directions –

You’ll need a 5 1/2″ x 12″ sheet of pattern paper. I KNOW you have a ton of this. What crafter does not????

score the 5 1/2″ x 12″ pattern paper at 2″, 4″, 8″, 10″
on both the short sides, mark 2 3/4″ (is it exactly the halfway point in 5 1/2″)
on the left, from the 2 3/4″ mark to the 4″ score line, make a diagonal cut up
on the right side at the 8″ score line, to the 2 3/4″ mark, make another, opposite diagonal cut. (It will look like a house with a flat roof in the center)
on each side, one at a time, fold in towards the center the center most score lines, the fold back the other score line
open card up
the 2 diagonal triangles, flip and adhere to each of the ends
add a center panel to write on
add a sentiment of belly band to the outside

Gatefold Birthday

I had a wonderful Creative Class this past weekend. We made one of those, no cut, no glue, clever note card holders with two matching cards, a Z-Fold card and this fun Double Gate Fold card –

This is the outside in all it’s beauty.

And when opened –

It’s just so pretty! It was a favorite at the class I think.

When fully opened, you can see how the DSP looks on the inside –

Just lovely, isn’t it?

You can create two of these from one sheet of DSP.

The dimensions are 5 1/2 x 12 initially.
Score at 2, 4, 8, and 10.
On each 5 1/2 end, make a mark at 2 3/4, (which is halfway up on the ends).
Make a diagonal cut from the score at four to the 2 3/4 mark, and from the score at 8 to the other 2 3/4. The cuts will go away from the center of the card.
Save those pieces to adhere reversed to the bottom section of the card.
Decorate!

It was really an easy card to create!

My flower on the front is Scallop Circle Punch with a Fun Flower Punch on top. The sentiment is added as the flower’s center.

Conveniently, the greeting on the inside peeks out perfectly at the top!
