12 Days of Gift Card Holders – Day 1

As we approach Christmas and the gift giving season, many of us give gift cards as that perfect gift.

So, why not dress up that perfect gift with a handmade gift card holder?

I’ve created 12 different styles of gift card holders to share with you over the next few days.

Let’s start with this adorable reindeer –

Looks like a regular card, doesn’t it? See how he opens –

And, here you see the gift card in the pocket –

Directions –

Start with an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of Call Me Clover card stock
Score at 1 1/2 and 7
fold up bottom, secure with Tear & Tape
fold down top
Festive Farmhouse DSP 5 1/4 x 4, cut at 1 1/4 for the bottom
Festive Farmhouse DSP strip id 1 x 4 1/4
punch starburst out of Call Me Clover
punch 2″ Circle from Whisper White, stamp sentiment / squiggles
stamp reindeer on Crumb Cake, punch using Cookie Cutter Builder Punch
adhere pom-pom nose to reindeer

I used a tiny clear hook & loop dot to keep card closed

Reindeer Jolly for CCMC

It’s Thursday and time for our weekly Create with Connie and Mary challenge.

This is sketch week –

What a terrific ‘go to’ sketch, you think?

I especially thought so after my design team card came together soo easily!

Isn’t this a great use of the sketch? The card just pops!

I love this Candy Cane Lane DSP – I have three partial packs of it left!! I also love green in my holiday mix of colors though. So I decided to combine Cucumber Crush with the Candy Cane Lane DSP!

As shown here, these colors go great together!! The little adorable reindeer helps! The addition of the red accents was a nice touch too. Sometimes you just need that tie in of color!

I think anyone would love to receive this for the holidays! I know I liked the card so much that I featured it on my Card Buffet this past weekend! I’d love to hear what you think of my ‘jolly’ reindeer!

Sending Gingerbread Smiles

Time for a bi-weekly Design Team card for Try Stampin’ on Tuesday!

Here is our cool sketch to get you going –

Challenge #297. Optional theme : Window

Mmmmm. This had me stumped. No kidding. I looked at it. And, looked at it. Did a little pondering.

After some deep thought about it, I came up with this –

Such a cute little number! And, it has a window!!

My store manager will be out for several weeks from surgery. So, I thought this might be a little perk up for her!

I put the little gingerbread on the inside.

I used a window sheet for a ‘window’ too! Although very difficult to photograph! It also added stability to the card. It really needed it as it’s a bit floppy.

All in all, it will make her smile!

I mean, c’mon – wouldn’t you if you received this?

Hot Chocolate for a Nacho

Ha- Ha- Silly title!

I’ve got a busy crafting November that’s why I’m not posting everyday as usual.

Between a Card Buffet, Christmas Card Class and a Holiday Fair – I barely have time to breathe!

I’m creating items for the Holiday Fair and one is a hot chocolate packet. I decided to use these colors from Nacho Average Challenges for a little inspiration –

Some nice, subtle colors.

I created this sweet little number –

Luckily, we had hot chocolate packets in the pantry. After all, it IS Texas and we are still at 95 degrees here!

I was also fortunate enough that the packet matched the color scheme! How cool is that?!?!

This was just really fun to create and will be a hit at the Holiday Fair!

Step It Up Reindeer, We Create Blog Hop

This is the second blog hop and post you’ll be seeing from me!

Wahoo! Been a crafty little one lately!

This is for We Create! Our theme we work with is to either create a card then step it up or create two cards using the same layout.

This time, I chose to create a card and make it twice using the same layout. Here is the fist one –

It is sort of simple in design until you open it –

It’s a gift card holder! And, it used the same size card stock as a regular card, it’s just scored differently!

The other card uses the remaining half of the Real Red card stock –

It’s a way fancier front, but it uses the same basic layout.

Here, you can see the two next to each other –

What do you think? You like? The cards are sort of stepped up and sort of stepped over!

I love both of them! The retired Red Foil Paper (it’s still on the Clearance Rack) and Pom-Pom Trim was a great added bonus here!

October Catalog Favorites, Blogging Friends Blog Hop

Welcome fall! Cooler temps. Pumpkins. Rustling leaves.

……and the first of three posts! This is for Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Our theme this month is Mini Catalog favorites. As many of you have seen the Stampin’ Up Holiday mini catalog, it’s probably the whole book, right? Well, I had to narrow it down a bit.

My favorites would have to be some stamp sets, a punch, some of the DSP, the trims and the new foil.

I created a little holiday treat bag ensemble to show them off –

Can you say, A D O R A B L E ????

I made four bags that would be appropriate to use over the next few months for treats, small gifts or even a gift card!

They all have the same size wrap around band and a velcro closure. I also placed a firm piece of cardboard in the bottom to give the bag more stability. Measurements are at the end.

This first bag is really a fall/winter treat bag. It never really get that cold here for cable knit sweaters……..but, I love this Cable Knit Dynamic embossing folder to create the look of one!

I paired it with the new Copper Foil. It’s such a much have! Here a made a ‘button’ to show it off. Couldn’t you image hot chocolate or s’mores treats in this?? So so cozy!

The Halloween bag is pretty simple. So great for spooky treats!

I used the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set in and the Cookie Cutter Builder punch. Because I used a blender pen to add some detail to the mummy, I stamped him in Staz On first then onto Shimmery White Card Stock. This paper works nicely with the blender pen.

For fall/thanksgiving, I went with this little detailed scarecrow on the bag –

I used Serene Scenery DSP for this one. (It’s in the larger catalog.) I also used my blender pen and a few ink pads to color him in on Shimmery White Card Stock. He’s sooo cute! The new Kraft Rope trim helped to add lots of detail to his arms and legs. Looks like real straw, right?

The Christmas bag finishes off the ensemble

It’s nothing too fussy. By the time Christmas rolls around, no one has much time or energy to craft! It’s a simple stamped image detailed with a piece ribbon on the side.
