Birthday Fishes for Kenny

As usual, this month is rapidly going by…….already the 14th! That means it’s my brother’s birthday. I told you I had several dates to keep up with this month!

Here is a little ‘fish’ for you my dear brother –

Isn’t is cool? I have been wanting to try this gel card technique for a while now.

It was quite easy. As you can see, I simply stamped the card front and cut an oval out of the center. I stamped the inside ‘sea’ portion of the card as well. My fish is behind the ‘water’.

I placed (my husbands Paul Mitchell) hair gel in a small zip lock bag and placed it between 2 layers of card stock. I sealed the layers with Sticky Strip and then placed this on the front of the card. I added minimal embellishments, as there is already a lot going on with this card.

Nothing new here, just new for me.

And, a great guy card for someone who likes to fish.

Birthday Fishes

Happy Monday! What are you starting off your day with? Me, this late birthday card.

My brother’s birthday was yesterday. I never got it in gear to make this ahead of time. So, I made this card on his birthday. It happens. We’ve all been there. And, I’m posting it today, a day late. I’ll put it in the mail tomorrow (post office closed today, holiday), so even more late. Oh well….

Let’s get to my card. He likes to do manly things. Fishing being one of them. And, since I love this stamp set – it’s a win-win. See what I came up with –

Isn’t this just the greatest fish card? Theses stickers from Target Dollar Spot just added what it needed. And, since I had so many letters, made it much easier too!

This was one of those cards where I just started building it. I started with these fish. I stamped and cut them out. Yes, I cut them out. All six of them. I added the stickers and made it work from there. The ‘gold’ thread that the fish are strung on is from an upcoming Sale-a-Bration card kit. It was a scrap from another project – can’t waste anything.

The addition of the Dimensionals really helped here. I placed them under each fish and under the base layer. It really added that last detail the card needed.

So, pull out your By the Tide stamp set – you know you bought it – and play with it!

Fishing You a Wonderful Birthday

Fishing you a wonderful birthday? Why yes. I wish that is what this actually said, but it does not.

This card is for my cousin Missy who loves to fish when she has the time. I just love this stamp set. Perfect for all my fish lovin’ friends! Happy Birthday, Missy!

This is the first of two posts today. Two birthdays needed celebrating, so, I decided to go with two posts.

The inspiration for this card comes from a card challenge. Create with Connie and Mary. It’s the CCMC265. Although several of the cards have a ‘fall’ theme, I really liked this In-Color DSP and the fishes. It just went SO well with this birthday card I needed to make. The patterning in the DSP looks like little waves. Hard to tell in the photograph, but the fish fin is popped out. It’s just really sweet.

Sometimes simple is better. It works in this case. Love how this card turned out.

Fishy Birthdays

Fishing for a masculine birthday card idea? Well, look no further.

I just received my By The Tide stamp set and went straight to work. Today is my brother’s birthday! Yay, Happy Birthday Kenny. And, he loves fishing – so, what a great combination.

I had a card that inspired me to purchase this set, but, when I opened this stamp set, I went in a totally different direction! I am following CAS(E) this Sketch today, #40 to be exact. Nice, simple, clean sketch. Perfect for these little fishes!

Now the sentiment. I am actually ‘on time’ for Kenny’s birthday, just by the time he gets this card, it will be late. So, I chose the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set – so many great sentiments in that one!

So, nothing really ‘fishy’ about this card. Just a simple Happy Birthday to my brother, Kenny!
