Happy, happy Saturday. The last post from me was last Saturday. I have missed a week of creating and blogging due to Harvey.
In a nutshell, I live basically in Houston, right outside the city limits, in Pearland. The past week has been a blur. It started raining last Saturday evening really hard and never stopped. Water levels in our neighbor went up and down. Only to not go down. We live in a two-story house so we took stuff upstairs, like my stamp stuff among other items. As it was evident the water was on the rise, our efforts to move stuff (furniture) went into a higher gear. I went to bed Monday night around 3:00 am as the water was creeping up the 10 inch house foundation. I had accepted the fact I would wake up to water in my home. A few hours later as I woke up, the house was as still as could be, the ac had not turned on in a long while (a sign to me that the outside ac unit had taken on water), and there was the smell of strong musty humidity in the air. I got up to a dry floor as I walked through the house. I looked outside and although it was still raining, we had not flooded and the water was not touching the slab anymore. It was slow to drain on Tuesday, but by Wednesday the water had receded on our street enough to drive through it. But not the case for SO, SO many. As of Friday night, many areas and homes are still flooded or have flooded because of dam and reservoir water releases. It has truly been incomprehensible. We received some 45+ inches of rain.
My dear friends at Create with Connie and Mary have provided wonderful support with their care and concern. It was important to me to get back to them and my other stamp commitments. Stamping is my therapy. And, after this experience, I’m going to need a lot of therapy – in many forms!!!
Our theme this week is, Pop Up Surprise.
I’ve created lots of pop up cards, and, of course I strived for one a bit different.
I went with a Halloween themed card.
As you open it, the surprise is revealed!
And, believe or not, it folds flat!
