Happy relaxing Sunday!

I’m pausing on my Card Buffet festivities to play around with a card challenge. I just wanted to be creative this morning!

Sadly, it’s the last sketch over at Seize the Sketch. I have LOVED their ideas. And, I love their simple, eye-catching picture they’ve always posted. Very visually appealing. I’ll miss them…..

This is what I created –

A baby card of sorts.

I recently went to a baby shower, and made this bag. The parents to be have decided to not follow the norm of finding out at the minute of conception, the gender of their baby to be. They are waiting. So, it prompted me to make this adorable baby card for them.

I pulled out a way old retired 6×6 paper pack because I liked the pink, blue and yellow papers in the pack. Just generic baby colors, really.

I decided I needed a couple of question marks. I didn’t have one by itself, so I created one. It’s from the Just Sayin’ stamp set.

I also needed a tag line. This came from A Dozen Thoughts. The Banner Punch worked well in punching out just that little bit of words I needed.

In just a few more weeks they will find out what’s been in the works will be. A girl or a boy. Either way, I’m happy for them!

You Made My Day

Have you tried these new ‘file folder cards’ made using the punch board yet?

I just LOVE them. I made one today to express my gratitude for something that happened on Sunday.

Sunday had started out being just craptacular. No fun, I know. And, I had to work. When I arrived, I was greeted with my Years in Service Award! I was so tickled. I had no idea it had come in. My boss brought me a delicious cupcake and freshly baked cookies as well. (How’d she know I love chewy gooey cookies?) And, she snapped a photo too – so, I just had to share it.

Well, since that turned my day around, I decided to pass it on. I made this file folder card from our Envelope Punch Board and a recycled catalog from the store where I work. I even made a matching envelope using the Envelope Liners Framelits Dies! It’s just too cute.

The ‘pay it forward’, I say because I wrote her a note expressing my gratitude on a separate card inside the file folder. This way, this can be reused yet again to send someone else ‘thanks’!

I love to make cards. I love to make someones day. With just a few Stampin’ Up supplies, you can make someones day in a snap!

You’re in my Thoughts

A somber, meaningful post today.

I’m taking time out to reflect on the fond memories of my dear Aunt Mary. It has been a year since her passing. I was very fortunate to be able to spend time with her during her last months of life. She was truly a remarkable person. I miss her dearly. Her spunk. Her positive attitude. Her memory of the past.

Her room was painted purple. Purple reminds me of her.

I digress for a moment. You might recognize this card for several reasons. I had an almost identical one at my July Card Buffet. It was also my one and only Convention swap – you are lucky if you received it. And, most recently, it was my team meeting swap.

I never use a card design for such multiple reasons. Never. But, this one I did. It’s special.

My aunt lived a very modest life. She enjoyed life. Her faith, family, food and fun were most important to her.

She was an avid recycler and believed in nothing going to waste. Hence this card. I wanted to create something in her memory and this was sitting right in front of me. It spoke to me. So, a little addition of another sentiment and a little tweaking of the flowers. I have created the perfect card, repurposed, in her memory.

I will wear purple today as I usually do when I am thinking of her.

Bravo in Black & Blue

Bravo in black and blue? Yes, I was stumped for a title for this posting, lol!

I made this card for a retreat swap I attended before Convention. Isn’t it lovely? Elegant? Classy? I sure liked it!

It was a bit time-consuming making multiples because I wanted them all to line up the same. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlit (yes, we still carry that one) and cut two for each card. I placed them behind the Apothecary Framelit cutout. I added the tiny piece of ribbon and stamped the sentiment before attaching it to the Silver Glimmer Paper.

In recapping, seems a lot quicker than it actually was! But, I loved it. Wouldn’t this make a stunning card for a wedding?
