Happy November 1st! Wow, before we know it, it’s Thanksgiving and then Christmas! My head is just shakin’ at how time has gone by so quickly…..

Focus.

I have my regulars who come out to stamp. And, at my last Card Buffet, some of the regulars brought some of their friends, which made them new to my class. Always glad to have frequent stampers and new faces at my classes.

Both the new people traveled a great distance to come out. I was so thrilled! One doesn’t do email, so I decided to send her a card showing my gratitude for making the drive out.

This is what I sent her. I just started putting elements together and the result was lovely!

The Basic Grey was embossed from another project that didn’t go as planned, so, I just punched a circle in it. Added the numbered DSP paper behind the circle along with a tied piece of ribbon to the side. Stamped a retired greeting and called it a card, a finished card!

Whatever the reason, go make a card and go make someones day!

Born to Ride

Born to Ride? Who’s born to ride? Well, probably lots of you. But this is for Cheryl, a stampin’ friend of mine. She attends my classes and also comments on my blog. She wondered why I didn’t make a less masculine motorcycle card. Well, this one is for you, Cheryl!

And, it’s also for two others as well. Two card challenges. The layout is from Fab Friday, Sketch #19. Very nice layout! And, the colors of Raspberry Ripple and Wisteria Wonder are from Dynamic Duos, Challenge #55.

So, if you ask me, these qualify as more feminine colors, don’t you think?

I know, I should have showcased something new, but this stamp set, Born to Ride is new to me, doesn’t that count? And, I had fun playing around with it. Kind of odd to stamp with a wood block these days, it stamps a bit different. The tactile feel is more solid. Well, whatever it is, it stamped beautifully!

I started with Naturals White, yes, hard to see in the photo. Then went from there. I used the cool Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack, Tool and Mat. Created a different background this time. The Chevron Embossing Folder complimented to Raspberry Ripple well too.

All in all, it’s a great card. Cheryl, you like?

Graduation Slider Gift Card Holder

Graduation is just around the corner for many. High School. College. Kindergarten. And, of course the newest thing to celebrate, Pre-K. But, you Pre-K’ers just wait. Time flies. No, really. It does.

My share today is to help you get ready for these upcoming graduations. Typically, money is given. I like to make money or check holders as that is really a popular gift for graduates. It’s kind of like reinventing the wheel. There is really only a few basic ways to create a money/check holder. Anyway you cut it. No pun intended!

But, gift card holders are a whole different story. There seems to be several ways to create a clever holder for a plastic card loaded with purchasing power! So, today I’m sharing a slider version of a gift card holder. This is for The Friday Mashup, FM108.

It’s pretty generic in color, but school colors could be added. For some reason, I always gravitate towards black and white for my graduation cards.

Not a lot of supplies are need to make this. The 2 1/2 Circle Punch. Blue Ribbon stamp set. And, my all time favorite ribbon, the 5/8 Organza!

This is a really easy card that just looks fabulous in person. Pictures just could not duplicate the nice look of this card.

Simple, Hi

Purple. Simple. Hi! Feeling a little purple today? Nah, just another color challenge.

I am playing along with two this morning. My color palette, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Basic Grey, for this card comes from Nacho Average Challenge, #144. And, the lovely layout, which I rotated, comes from Try Stampin’ on Tuesday, #116.

Nice combination of the two, huh? I think so. Clean and simple. Not a lot of fluff. And, who doesn’t love a card just because?

To get me going, I pulled all the colors of this sketch. I had a pencil drawing of the sketch. I just started playing around. Sometimes designs turn out the first go around, and other times, not so much. I liked my card after the first attempt and just left it alone.

This was my first time to use the Raining Flowers stamp set. Not one of my favorite sets and I’m not even sure why I have it (I bet you can relate to that on a few of the stamp sets you have, huh?), but, I’m happy to challenge myself to use something I haven’t before. I paired it with one of my favorite, well used sets, Fabulous Phrases.

Lucky

Feeling Lucky? I am, maybe a bit. I love how this card turned out.

This card was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches, Sketch #74 to be exact. And, because St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner….you see where I’m going with this.

I am really lovin’ this Print Poetry Paper Stack in the Spring Mini. There is SOO many prints to choose from. Yes, some are reprints in different colors from previous DSP patterns – but, these are smaller patterns which makes it perfect for adding it to card fronts. Not to mention the 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 size. Price is nice at $6.95 for 48 sheets too!

So, add an inexpensive Doily and your possibilities are endless for the amount of cards you can create. Mine started with a Naturals White Base. It adds a little color with the specks in it, and, the weight has such a nice feel to it. Make for a nice, crisp card.

So, I think I did pretty well with this weeks FMS Challenge. What do you think?

Dallas Regional SWAPS

Did you attend the Stampin’ Up Regional in Dallas this past weekend? I did. I hope you were lucky enough to receive one of my adorable SWAPS.

I made 3. That was incredible considering the week I had prior. And, of course, I made multi-step cards too! Nothing like staying up the night before in the hotel finishing up swaps! Thanks Nancy and Carolyn!

I wanted to show off something a little different, maybe unexpected. I went with the Single Stamp Set Assortments 3 & 4. And, I wanted to make something that reminded me of my girls.

Hello, Foxy because my oldest daughter seems to like foxes. She’s had a few stuffed animals and such. It looks just one of them. Just made me smile!

Sunshine because my other daughter, I have always referred to as my sunshine. So, when I saw this one – I was all over it.

So, hence the two heat embossed beauties! I got lots of positive comments about those and the mini pennant card I made.

My Heart is With You

Know someone who needs a little ‘I’m here for you’? We all need this from time to time. It’s always nice to see it in card form too.

This time it’s for my dear husband. So, this card is for him! Doctor visits are never fun, especially these routine ones. Although he knows I’m here for him, this just makes him feel a little more special.

It’s yet another card made from a nifty 6×6 pad of Lost & Found Two papers called Blush. After the fact I realized it looks a bit feminine. Oh well! After I strategically place it somewhere – he will just love it anyhow!

So, go make a loved one a card – for any reason, or better yet, no reason. Just to show you care.

Seize the Challenge

Ever need a quick birthday card? Sketch challenges can be a terrific resource for quick, go-to ideas.

Today, my inspiration comes from another card challenge blog I ran across, Seize the Birthday. This is yet another clean and simple design that I just love – that’s my style.

My card is very feminine as the challenge requests. The Fancy Fan Embossing Folder was used for the background with an added touch. I split it towards the bottom and flipped it. The scallops now direct your attention to the center focal point.

A little hard to see in the photo, but I outlined the sentiment wording with a sparkly gel pen. In person, it adds a nice touch.

Freshly Made Fridays, #26

Ah, getting into some more card designing. I have my Card Buffet next weekend, so I am still creating cards.

Will this one make the buffet?

I wanted to incorporate either Sale-A-Bration products or the Occasions Mini Catalog. The Occasions Mini won out. I went with the Twitterpated DSP, Mixed Bunch, and Blossom Punch.

My design inspiration came from Freshly Made Sketches, of course, it’s Friday. Sometimes as stampers, we need the nudge. Here was what I worked from –

To make my flower, I stamped once in Island Indigo onto Whisper White, then inked up my stamp again and stamped onto Vellum Paper. All the layers are popped up with lots of Dimensionals!

Aaahhh! I love the way this card turned out! I thought this little ribbon wreath was just the right focal point for this layout. I made it with a retired Kiwi Kiss 3/8 Satin Ribbon. So silky. So smooth. So right for this wreath.
