Continuing the love today for Create with Connie and Mary!

We have a layout challenge today –

I immediately pulled out my Sending Love DSP and got to creating this card –

It came together in a flash and matched the sketch to a T!

After corner rounding, I adhered the outer diagonal squares together first. Then, the opposing ones. Once those were together, I used dimensionals to pop this up a bit.

The center heart is actually the middle piece of that die cut stringy heart. I just cut it twice in the two colors. I saved the unused hearts for later (tomorrows card!). Always keep those scraps like this. Even the border from cutting this out.

I had already stamped the border and the love sentiment. I added the focal point and rhinestones and I was done!

Waves for WWC80

Ok. So the room is still getting put back together…….and, who doesn’t love to be greeted by craft crap goodness when they enter the house???

I’m managing to work on some card challenges too. Whew.

Today, it’s for Watercooler Wednesday.

We have a challenging challenge today –

It’s good to be challenged! After all, that’s why we participate in these!

And, did you see, this is a clean AND simple card too! Which means minimal everything. Everything.

But, I love a good CAS card. I came up with this –

Quite clean. Quite simple. And, the water theme? Pretty spot on I’d say.

The hardest part of this card was stamping without the edges touching the paper. And, yeah, I failed a few times. But this was the best out of 5 attempts at this design. Ha!

Each ‘water’ line was inked up and stamped four times

I also decided to double up on the challenge. I ran across Just Us Girls who had a theme of, no doubt, WATER! So how perfect was that?

Rose, You’re The Best

That’s right. Two posts in one day! Wow! I’m on a roll!

Well, it’s storming here and it’s sparked my creativity actually.

The minute this color challenge came out from Create with Connie and Mary I was drawn to it.

It also racked my brain. It’s spring. These are fall colors to me. So, just how to lighten these colors up? I created several samples that just did not cut it.

But, alas. I combined this sketch from Can You Case It –

Nice, simple, my style sketch! That’s what I needed.

And. Finally. Something I was happy with. Under the wire.

Nice, right? I debated about photographing it with my kraft paper. I decide to forego it.

I started with a small piece of Whisper White card stock and used the very first Paper Pumpkin background stamp to make the flower base in the two colors, Hello Honey and Cajun Craze. I stamped each about three times to use all the ink and to give varying color here.

I adhered the Rose Die Cut over that and simply cut it out around the black edge. Quite easy. And, you know how much I love fussy cutting!

Then I just went according to the sketch.

I love it! It may even make the Card Buffet this weekend!

Gatefold Birthday

I had a wonderful Creative Class this past weekend. We made one of those, no cut, no glue, clever note card holders with two matching cards, a Z-Fold card and this fun Double Gate Fold card –

This is the outside in all it’s beauty.

And when opened –

It’s just so pretty! It was a favorite at the class I think.

When fully opened, you can see how the DSP looks on the inside –

Just lovely, isn’t it?

You can create two of these from one sheet of DSP.

  • The dimensions are 5 1/2 x 12 initially.
  • Score at 2, 4, 8, and 10.
  • On each 5 1/2 end, make a mark at 2 3/4, (which is halfway up on the ends).
  • Make a diagonal cut from the score at four to the 2 3/4 mark, and from the score at 8 to the other 2 3/4. The cuts will go away from the center of the card.
  • Save those pieces to adhere reversed to the bottom section of the card.
  • Decorate!

It was really an easy card to create!

My flower on the front is Scallop Circle Punch with a Fun Flower Punch on top. The sentiment is added as the flower’s center.

Conveniently, the greeting on the inside peeks out perfectly at the top!

Watercooler Wednesday, Challenge #54

I am happy to be working with the wonderful designers over at Watercooler Wednesday. I am looking forward to getting to know these talented designers and playing around with their challenges. Thanks for having me!

The challenge this week is from Marsha, the Bouncing Brayer Technique –

Well, when is the last time you used your brayer? Sadly, I could not even find my brayer…..but, I still managed to create a wonderful cards with a brayered effect –

Cool, isn’t it? I bet you’re wondering how I did it to?

Here’s what I did. I started with a card front, 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Grabbed some scratch paper, my Stampin’ Pierce Mat, two yellow ink pads and Clear Block I.

I inked up the edge of the block. On one edge, So Saffron at the top, Hello Honey along the bottom. I then proceeded to tap the block around the card keeping the end in the same place. It sort of has a burst out look to it.

I did this just randomly. Re-inking ever so often. (Yes, I rotated my card stock too. I did that frequently.)

I just kept going around and filling in. No rhyme, reason, or pattern.

Sometimes I did a bit of rolling. Sometimes a little dragging with the inked up block edge. When I was happy with the look. I stopped.

I trimmed it down and inked all the way around the edge of the panel. I added a sentiment and finished the card off with some Gold Foil corners and sequins.

Isn’t it pretty? Doesn’t this card just shine and brighten your day?

Swappin’ Sunburst

I’m a creative funk I tell you……challenges are not helping. Surfing the web is not helping. Ever have one of those days, weeks or months?

I love the new stuff I have gotten. One of which is the Sunburst Thinlits. Playing around with it, I created this –

I liked it so much I decided to create a few more and send out for a swap I’ve been participating in.

I started with the Sale-a-Bration DSP, Wildflower Fields. The colors are fun and fresh. This sentiment caught my attention because its different. To tie the elements together, the Sunburst Thinlits!

This time I traced around the Thinlits with a Stampin’ Write Marker.

This is sort of an up close picture of the card and the matching envelope I created. Isn’t is great? I believe I saw a similar card and that’s why I just had to have this set.

Once I figured out the design, these were really a snap to make. Minimal supplies were required too. That’s always a plus!

I’m still in a bit of a creative funk, but I’m inspired a little by this card design.
