Treat. Treat, hooray! Day three of my 12 Treats for Halloween.
This treat holder is something you’ve probably seen or even made, but with all the new ideas floating about, it may have been forgotten. Plus, I’ll give you some tips and pointers for making lots of these in a snap.
Here they are –
You’ve seen these, right? Of course you have! These are great to use up those little pieces of scrap card stock.
Here are the items I used –
- nuggets, of course
- DSP strips, 1 x 3
- 1 7/8 x 3 strip of card stock, score at 1/4 on 2 long sides
- pretzel/candy bag (found at craft stores in the candy section)
Note, the strips are turned over. I used a strip Tear & Tape along the 3 strips butted against one another. Your scissors will cut right through it with no gunky mess. If you are making several of these, do this before you make your 1 inch cuts.
The wrap is 1 x 3. When wrapping the nuggets, start opposite the flap on the bottom. This helps to keep the nuggets sealed.
- Unwrapped nugget is in the middle for reference.
- Top is done correctly.
- Bottom shows how wrapper can make the candy open as it’s wrapped. (I realized this when I covered 20 something nuggets for these cakes!)
The base, the wrapped nuggets sets on, is 1 7/8 x 3, scored at 1/4 on each side. Adjust the length for more nuggets. Fold up the sides.
Place nuggets on tray and slide into bag. I cut my bag with scissors instead of the trimmer. Any trimmer I used to shorten these bags, ended up sealing them shut.
Tie with cording or ribbon with a tag and these are done.
See. Easy. And, even more easy now that you have these helpful little tips!
Go make a treat and make someones day!
