What a fun card I have to share today.

I had seen this color challenge at Just Add Ink. I kept going back to it. Finally decided to play along with it. Here are the colors –

Nice, soft colors, right? I liked them a lot. I liked several of the inspiration cards too.

I was trying to think how to use the colors until I saw this sketch at Creative Challenge Club. Nice and clean.

I had an idea in mind.

It involved the Confetti Stars Punch. I went to work. My idea was to have a fuller area of punched stars rather than just a border. I cut a strip of card stock that was 2 1/4 inches wide. I punched along one side then rotated my card stock to punch the other side. And, you can see, it looks just like it was meant to be!

In order to keep up with the sketch, I made that nice full ‘star’ sheet a half circle.

I love it! It’s fun. It’s happy. It ‘celebrates’ visually.

I will definitely try this all over star technique again.

Isabel, It’s your Day!

Oh happy day for my friend Erica! It’s her daughters fourth birthday!!

I have been really trying to stay on top of things with birthdays – it’s hard – even with my trusty Dutch Birthday Calendar. I think I might be ahead of the game this month. We’ll see.

I decided to create a card for Isabel. I wanted it to be simple, she’s only four. And, she is a girly girl. So, I decided to use a sketch from Just Add Ink. See –

And, then I went with a simple color challenge from Can You Case It. Here are the colors –

These are fun, including two new in-colors as well! I thought I could put a girly spin on them.

This is how I joined the two –

Nice, huh? Really quite simple. Cards don’t always have to be fussy to be eye-catching.

Since the focal point of the circle and the flag appeared to be off the card, I decided to trim the from panel to have my items ‘off’ the front. You can see that when the card is slightly opened here –

The candles needed a little something. I thought embossing was just the right touch. This really simple sentiment was fun too!

I sure hope little Miss Isabel has a fabulous birthday. She is a real sweetheart – takes after her mother.

Bursting with Thanks

Just a quick share today. A Thank You card. You can make this in no time as well. See for yourself –

I started with Garden Green as a base. I stamped my sentiment from Fabulous Four, a must have fabulous set, in Garden Green on Pistachio Pudding card stock.

I used the Starburst Framelits to cut out the image carefully leaving it towards the upper portion of the framelit. After placing it to the left on the card, I added a strip of DSP from the new All Abloom paper pack.

The random placement of the sequins were just the last addition this card needed to be complete, don’t you think?

Celebrate Chevrons

What a fun card for Friday I have to share. It was from my last Card Buffet, I just forgot to show you.

It’s a great card for a boy or suitable to be a manly card! See for yourself –

Quite simple and quick.

Although, lining up the Chevron Punch and not punching too far was a bit tricky to explain in words. Of course, I had a template! You punch 3 times to get just the right amount. This was done on the bottom of the card. As well as the Whisper White panel for the middle. It was just rotated after punching to go in the opposite direction.

And, surprise – it’s a gift card holder as well! Nifty, nifty, right?

This gift card slot was made using the Word Window Punch. The card stock pushed all the way in and punched 3 times across to achieve the wide slot. I also flipped this piece to have the slot near the top. Sticky strip was placed on the sides and about an inch below where the gift card would slide in. This prevents it from going in too far.

So, what do you think? Pretty nifty, huh? And, now you know how to convert any card you’ve made into a quick ‘gift card’ holder!

Calling all Heroes

A nice post to kick-start long overdue blogging! I’ve been making & creating – just not photographing anything to share with you.

I know. I could just kick myself. I’ve made some really cool things you’ve missed.

I decided to photograph one of my cards this time and share it with you. Finally.

I used this super fun photopolymer stamp set, Calling All Heroes to make this awesome (and quick) card for my daughter. She starts a new job today. I couldn’t be more proud of her. Best of luck to you this week my dear.

I stamped the skyline in 3 different colors. Lining these photopolymer stamps up is quite easy I found. For my sentiment, I used the new stamp set, Fabulous Four. Thought these words were pretty appropriate. This was just an easy card. I love how it turned out.
