Spring 3D Flowers

Happy first day of spring!

What beautiful weather we are finally having. It’s Texas. It’ll be short-lived!

To celebrate, I made some flowers. Not just any flowers, but some really cool ones using the nifty Heartfelt Banner Kit I got free from Sale-a-Bration. Take a look at these little beauties –

I was inspired by some flowers I pinned a while ago. I decided I had to try these myself.

I started by punching several flowers from the Blossom Punch and the Fancy Flower Punch. As I watched t.v., I crumpled and scrunched the flowers. I strategically pulled them apart to make two pieces. The inside makes a suede leather like texture. Perfect for these fun felted balls.

I cut the balls in half. The are just styrofoam in the center. The cut pretty easily.

I put a dab of Tombow Liquid Glue between each flower layer and then hot glued the felted center. Poked a floral wire through the back and in no time I had literally, a bouquet of these cuties.

Put them in a vase filled with some jelly beans and these are done. So, Happy Spring to you!

I’ll use the for center pieces at my Card Buffet this weekend.

Triple Flower Fun

Like challenges? I really enjoy card challenges. They inspire me. They get my creativity going. I’ve pinned several, as I always do and I’ve been itching to play around with some.

I have my first challenge of the year, I think. This is from CAS(E) this Sketch!, it’s Sketch 63. Very clean design. Very my style.

I immediately went to my punches. I decided on three scaled flowers. Then, I went for the corresponding stamp sets. After stamping and punching my flowers in StazOn, going for a classic black and white card, I decided it was too harsh. So, out came the Card Stock Vellum to soften things up a bit.

This is what I came up with. Clean and classic.

My base is a Note Card from Stampin’ Up. Layered with an embossed panel, my flower sits atop a Paper Doily. I sort of had to scrunch it up to make the size look better. I used Dimensionals between each layer. Added a lot of height. Hard to photograph, but in the end – it’s GORGEOUS!

After I finished the design, I decided on the sentiment. I didn’t have one to start.

Happiness

Happiness. What a sweet thing, happiness. And, what a sweet thing, this card share for today.

I was inspired at 11:30 pm last night, yes, I had to work today, to create this little Happiness card. I wanted to make something for The Paper Players Challenge #147. The challenge said “it’s a great way to use up scraps, mix and match patterns and textures, or anything your heart and mind can imagine!!!” I sort of complied.

The (I think) So Saffron piece of DSP came from an old packet from a Stampin’ Up Regional. Um, ya, I never completed that project. The flower was from my box of stuff that I thought I was going to use, but, obviously didn’t! And, who doesn’t have scraps of ribbon lying about their crafty area?

So, voila! With a little trimming, a little stampin’, a little tying, a card is created! And, a lovely card at that, if I do say so myself! This was a fun challenge even though I didn’t have a great mix of patterns or papers.

Freshly Made Fridays, #26

Ah, getting into some more card designing. I have my Card Buffet next weekend, so I am still creating cards.

Will this one make the buffet?

I wanted to incorporate either Sale-A-Bration products or the Occasions Mini Catalog. The Occasions Mini won out. I went with the Twitterpated DSP, Mixed Bunch, and Blossom Punch.

My design inspiration came from Freshly Made Sketches, of course, it’s Friday. Sometimes as stampers, we need the nudge. Here was what I worked from –

Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch. 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. 3/8″ Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon.

To make my flower, I stamped once in Island Indigo onto Whisper White, then inked up my stamp again and stamped onto Vellum Paper. All the layers are popped up with lots of Dimensionals!

Freshly Made Fridays, #22

So it’s Friday and I have a card to share. See –

I just pulled a card base, and looked through my drawers of paper to find just the right size to go with my DSP. Love this punch, so I had to try that too. And, YES, it cut/punched through the preprinted window sheet! Yay! So, end result is a cute layered flower.

My inspiration came from none other than Freshly Made Sketches –

Now this one was a challenge for me. But, I turned my card long ways and it just came together. What do you think?

Supplies. Loving Thoughts Stamp Set. StazOn Ink. Whisper White and Melon Mambo Card Stocks. Night & Day Specialty DSP (so sad, it’s retired). Blossom Punch. Boho Blossoms Punch. Modern Label Punch. Basic Black 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon.

I liked the way I completed this challenge. After all, this was exactly that for me.

And. looking at these pictures, I need a new paper trimmer…..ugh.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #150

Wow, I stumbled upon another sketch challenge blog that I really like. I think I’m just going to have to try this one. It’s at The Sweetest Thing. Here is one their current challenges –

I thought it was a really great starting place. So, after mulling around my craft room – this is what I came up with –

I really enjoyed this sketch. The supplies I chose really complimented this design. And, the Poppy Parade sentiment, really does POP out against the monochromatic greys.
