Happy Saturday!
It’s the first of the month and time to share some creations with these talented stampers.
Our theme this month is techniques.
Perfect timing as I just received my Blending Brushes from Stampin’ Up!
Well, what did I create with them?
These –
A beautiful set of cards using the same technique (makes for great practice) using the new 2021-2023 In Colors.
Well, how did I do it?
I started with the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and the Stamparatus. I stamped the butterflies in each color first. I had saved the outer part from die cutting butterflies from another project. I used it like a stencil or mask. I taped the butterfly stencil/mask over the stamped butterflies.
I tapped the Blending Brush in the same color ink and began touch the paper in a tapping swirling motion.
I kept doing this until the butterflies looked subtly colored.
When I was done, I carefully removed my butterfly stencil/mask.
After all those were stamped and shadowed, I added a detailed butterfly die cut from the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum^.
I stamped sentiments from the Queen Anne’s Lace stamp set and backed each piece with a scalloped vellum die cut from the Scallop Contours Dies^.
Look at each color up close –
Pale Papaya
Soft Succulent
Fresh Freesia
Evening Evergreen
Such a beautiful set of cards! I can not wait to send these out!

I love the idea of using a created stencil to keep the shading from blurring the image too much on the edges. Great Idea and a great look
Thank you Cheryl! So much fun to make. I was happy to use something I had around the craft room, lol!
These turned out so great! And what a good idea for practicing with the Blending Brushes!
Yes, Tanya, it was! Now, I’m hooked! Thanks for stopping by!
That shimmer vellum is so pretty – I haven’t opened mine yet because I was afraid I’d just use it on everything and run out before I could order more! Lol, I guess we are close enough to the new catalog now that I can allow myself to play a little, huh? Thanks for sharing these beautiful cards 😀
Thank you Kimberley! This Shimmer Vellum is AWESOME!!!!
Beautiful cards. Thank you for sharing this awesome technique.
Thank you Linda!
What a brilliant idea! Love how this turned out. I haven’t used my blending brushes nearly enough. This is a great technique, and not so intimidating.
It was very easy to create Jeanna! I look forward to making more using it. Thank for stopping by!
Hi Libby, I love your cards, I thought I had seen enough butterflies, but you have pleasantly changed my mind! Have you got the dimensions of your card please? Cheers and thankyou, Marilyn in the very wet UK.
