Happy 2016!!!!!!!
And, welcome to the January Blogging Friends Blog Hop!
January starts the new year and always thoughts on starting something ‘new’.
I wanted to keep track of memories and important thoughts throughout the year. So, I made a box of perpetual journaling cards for the whole year –
365 hand stamped cards. I also made a box to store them in –
I attempted one of these last year…..let’s just say, this years turned out way better. And, this time, I finished all of the journaling cards! The key to making one of these projects is to be organized and work in small groups.
I started with stamping twelve of each number to represent the days of the month. I tried really hard to stamp in about the same place on each one. Some were off a bit. That’s ok. It is supposed to be a hand stamped project after all.
I left them in twelve piles. One had numbers up to 29, the others stopped at 30 or 31, depending on the month.
Next, I stamped the month along the side. It was easy to lay them out and stamp several right after one another. The Stampin Pierce Mat really helped to get an even impression each time.
Then, I left them stacked and added the 16 to represent the year on the opposite side. Surprisingly, it went quick!
Not sure if I will stamp the years, 17, 18 and 19 now or wait until I start my journaling. Who knows, I might have lots to say or minimal.
The box, I ended up just making my own because I didn’t have one to accommodate the large stack of cards.
I used a different stamp set for the months on the tabs. The font matched nicely.
My box pattern is a piece of card board (the backer sheet from 12 x 12 DSP) is 9 x 11 1/4. Scored with the 9 at the top at 2 1/2 and 6 1/2. With the 11 1/4 at the top, score at 2 1/2 and 8 3/4.
The dividers are 6 x 4 1/2.
The index cards I used were 4 x 6. (I picked those up at the Dollar Store.)
I really liked how this turned out. 2015 was a great year of travels, milestones and memorable events I wished I had recorded in some way. I am looking forward to a great 2016 and remembering the events!

Libby!!!! OMG girl! I LOVE this idea! And you created it beautifully! I’m going to have to try to make one, too. A great project for the new year!
Thanks Danica! It was really fun to create!
Libby these are so awesome! Do you journal everyday!!! Wow! major undertaking! I could never do this. You go girl!
Well, I’m hoping this will ‘inspire’ me to do so. Just a line or whatever. Thanks for leaving a comment Anne!
This is a great idea Libby! I am definitely going to CASE it for my mom next year. It will be easy for her to jot down her memories for me to save for years to come!
Thanks for the lovely comments Chris. It really was a fun project! I just hope I can keep up with the journaling!
OMG, Libby! I agree with everyone, these are so cool! I once saw a similar idea on Pinterest and started my own in a recipe box too, but I didn’t do any of this stamping or personalizing that you did and this is WAY better! I won’t tell you that I only ended up completing maybe 80 cards for the year, but perhaps you’ll inspire me to try again! Happy 2016! Crystal
Yep, I saw it on Pinterest too. I decided to make mine more functional than decorative this time. And, using the larger cards will be better too.
I love this project, Libby! You’re a much better woman than I – you can journal every day?! Thanks for sharing how you made the box to hold the cards; that alone may inspire me to at least try! Wishing you all the best in 2016!
Deb, my daughters have always been avid writers. I thought, wht can’t i do that too…..we will see.
I’m inspired! What a great idea!
Thanks Anna!
