Lovely as the snow – ya right in my 70 degree sunshine! Lol! Here in Texas it never snows! So, I’ll make a card to portray the snow! My daughter in Boston can appreciate this!
I’m also making this card for Create with Connie and Mary. It’s their sketch CCMCWINTER13-03. I have been so inspired by their creations the past few weeks! All the layouts and color challenges really fit my aesthetic. I am also in the midst of preparing for a Card Buffet this weekend, and, an upcoming Christmas Card Class. Whew.
So, taking some time out to design just for ‘fun’ – I came up with this design. Where do I begin?
Card base/front is embossed using the retired Snow Burst design. Layered on that is a nice piece of Brushed Silver card stock.
My strip is a thin Smokey Slate card stock with Smokey Slate 3/4″ Chevron Ribbon running across it. The card stock just makes for a nice firm base for the ribbon. I had to move this down from the original sketch because it just didn’t look right with the trees. I really like to stay true to a layout, but sometimes you just have to do what looks best.
Now, my centerpiece, or side piece as it were, is a multi-stepped gem. Started off with an embossed image from Lovely as a Tree. Then, I used a Epsom Salt wash over it to form the ‘crystals’ after it dried. I backed it in Glimmer Paper to make it standout.
Nice, huh?
Well, back to my creations for my upcoming classes. Like what you see? Please, leave a comment. Love to read your thoughts on my creations!
