It Suits You, Santa

Every year at my annual Christmas card class, I always have a version of a ‘santa’ card. I’m not sure why, I just do.

I normally use a solid color red for the suit. This one is a bit different –

Cute, right? I thought it was a great use of the Black Glimmer Paper too!

I had lots and lots of these retired Season of Style Paper stacks from 2014. I just couldn’t resist using it.

Pink Polka Dot Christmas

Think you’re seeing double? Well, you are. I have a double post of sorts today.

The first card shown is from my Christmas Card Class. It’s just so lovely, right?

It was made from the Season of Style DSP Stack, some retired Melon Mambo Ribbon, Christmas Messages stamp set, and the Chalk Talk Framelits. Easy peasy.  I always like to throw in an unexpected pop of color in these type of classes.

I had a kit or two leftover from the class. So. Waste not. Want not. Hence the gift card holder for my December Holiday Card Buffet was created! And, it was a popular choice.

The gift card holder could be Christmas or non-Christmas. I thought it was cool how it incorporated the Envelope Punch Board on a more narrow card creating the file folder style card. What do you think?

I once again used the retired Melon Mambo Ribbon, but this time added the Festive Flurry stamp set and coordinating framelits. The Vintage Designer faceted Buttons gave just enough of a ‘pop’ to this little gem. The Petite Pairs stamp set worked just perfectly for this smaller spaced greeting.

As you can see, when opened, the gift card holder uses the ‘W’ fold to form the slot to hold the gift card.

I love the challenge of recreating cards from extra supplies. In this case, it was nice to have the coordinating projects. Some like the matchy matchy Christmas stuff! Like me, of course!

Fall Flower Fun

Lovely flowers I’d say!

I’ve been sick for the past few days and haven’t been able to do anything! Puts a damper on a paper crafting blog. I have a few challenges I wanted to play along with but, my stomach had other plans.

I’m back in the game. Sadly, I wasn’t the first to post for Stamping Peaches Paper Challenge. I have been the first the past few weeks – it’s just a quest of mine. They have a color challenge this week, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Gumball Green. Wow, what colors to combine. Fall at it’s best.

So, flowers for me I decided. A lovely fall bouquet that will be perfect for my class next weekend. I have several paper flower collections going. I just love flowers. Paper or real. Except that paper last a lot longer. And, you can really customize the colors.

Here, the base flower is Cajun Craze with an Early Espresso (retired) pattern DSP in the center. I made double flowers with some added dimension. The top flower has been notched out and glued over. I used Tombow, but a glue gun would have gone faster. The centers are the newer 7/8 Scallop Circle Punch. They fit nicely into the curved flower. The leaves are (retired) Small Oval Punch scored in the center, folded and secured in between the flower layers.

I was skeptical at first about my creation. Now that I see it in a photo – I love it! It makes feel better, as flowers do!

Halloween Hello Gift Cards

Halloween hello gift card holders?

Wah! I wanted a tutorial. I know. It’s coming. Waking up at 5:00 am to make a tutorial before work is no easy task. Look for it tomorrow. Please.

But todays share is cute. I made some really quick, simple and adorable gift card holders to mail to family who is far away to receive the traditional Halloween treat. Sooo, a gift card is the next best thing. And, thanks to the Pop’n Cuts die and Washi tape – these were a snap!

I have found a couple of different folds to make gift cards from this die. I chose to go with both, for some added interest.

I also used some fun colors, like pink. Not a Halloween color, but, a girly color. I just kept applying the tape until it looked just right. You can see my variations. One went to a boy, so, I had to be a bit more masculine.

You have today to make creative treats for people – go get busy.

Happy Washi-o-Ween

Happy washi what? Halloween plus Washi tape equals Washi-o-Ween!

Lol! it’s the best I can do since I can’t sleep. I decided to just get up and make a card.

I’m playing along with a new challenge blog, Stamping Peaches Paper Challenge. They provided the ‘colors’ to go with here and the layout came from Try Stampin’ on Tuesday.

I just loved the quick and easy application of the Washi Tape here. A few punches and this card is done! Took me longer to blog about it than to actually make the card!

For the Loss of Luna

A longtime childhood friend of mine had a cat named the same thing as our cat, Luna. Bonnie’s Luna, passed away on Tuesday.

Being a pet lover and empathizing with their loss, I am saddened. She would always post pictures and videos of Luna and her other pets – and, yes, she has a child – so, it was like you knew them. It has been very sweet to see these kinds of things. Up until the last video, she showed a sweet, caring love for her Luna.

She is at peace now. She can rest comfortably.

My ‘paw’ card is not a new idea. It’s new for me, because I never made one. Sad that the loss of a pet inspired this, but make one of these before you need one of these. Pets are our family too.  And, as with any sympathy card, not really a joy to make.

This, So Sorry stamp set is a must have to make any sympathy/caring card. It should be on your stamp shelf.

Hey Pumpkin, Happy Halloween

Want to see some Halloween fun? In a card form of course!

Take a look at what came up with for a brand new challenge blog, Seize the Sketch. This is the first sketch to get them going. And, me too in the direction of Halloween cards.

It’s a very clean, simple sketch. My favorite. I’m just not a frilly card person.

Looking at this card, it looks pretty straight forward. Basic layering. Washi Tape on the diagonal. Some stamping. A punched pumpkin. Wait. That’s where you stop. Because, he’s special. I used the new Mosaic Punch (fooled you, huh?) and the Small Oval to create him. He’s adorbs, right? The leaves also came from, no surprise, the Bird Builder Punch.

This is a great card using a great layout. Loved the way it turned out. Heck, it might even make it to my Card Buffet next week.

Happy Easter, Bunny

Turn around little bunny!

This was another one of the cards I made the other day at my up lines stamp camp. It’s a sweet little card that showcases lots of Stampin’ Up products.

I really like the bunny made from all the punches. It’s cute and simple. The fun part was using these Martha Stewart Craft fringe Scissors to make the grass. Yes, I know, it’s not Stampin’ Up – but the same look could have been achieved with regular scissors.

Having all these supplies, this card could be easily be reproduced a number of times. Just in time to get these in the mail for Easter.

Gettin’ some nifty Easter ideas now aren’t you? Are you inspired yet?

Happy Birthday Tiffany

Did you get your Happy Hello Simply Sent Kit? Today is the last day to take advantage of Sale-a-Bration free stuff. Today is also my niece  Tiffany’s, birthday.

So, Tiffany got her Happy Hello in the form of a Birthday Card. Happy Birthday girl!

I love the way this came together. A bit elegant with the mix of colors. The base is one of the newer In-Colors, Raspberry Ripple. Ribbon too. It’s a purse style card. Very sweet. And, the ‘niece’ stamp – just adds that special touch.

So, from the interweb world, Happy Birthday Tiffany!

Welcome Home

Welcome home. That’s right. I made this card for my nephew, Eddy and his wife. They just joined the home buying world!

I wanted to do something a little ‘different’, card style – and I think this card unique.

Take a look at how cute it is. I got the ‘door’ at a scrapbook fair a few months ago with Carolyn. You know, one of those impulse purchases. Didn’t really know who or what this was going to be used for – I just thought it was stinkin’ sweet. And, once I figured how to use it, well, it is!

I thought the addition of the flower pots with the brightly colored flowers was just the right touch. Not to mention the ‘welcome’ sign on the screen. I just love it. Hope they will too.

I used Stampin’ Up supplies/card stock and a retired punch to create this. It turned out to be a rather thick card and a little more difficult to photograph. Even after I tried to secure it shut. Oh well, you get the idea and see it is a true card, not just a front.

I hope they like this little ‘best wishes’ in card form on their latest endeavor  – a home of their own! Congratulations to you!

Welcome, Baby Abby

Congratulation go out to Mandi, John, and their son, Seth for the new addition to their family.

Welcome, baby Abby. She arrived a bit early and is a tiny parcel of joy, weighing in at only 2 lbs, 13 ozs!

I made this quick card. I am delighted that everything is going well –

It is a very simple, clean card. Just my style, even though Miss Abby is their little princess!

Happy, Happy 21st Birthday Hillary!

Yes, it’s my daughter’s 21st Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILLARY!

I can hardly believe it! My, how the time has flown……we all say that as moms. (And, as we get older I guess.)

Of  course we have a card –

Very blingy! Bright pink tone on tone base, Whisper White oval and gold lettering! (The bright pink color matches the wrapping paper, of course!)

And, my birthday ensemble is never complete without a banner of sorts –

Since space is limited, I created this fan folded style banner. Each square is 2×3. It is super cute! Done in the bright pink and, once again, gold lettering! I used the Small Oval Punch as a backdrop for the letters. Worked like a charm!
