Elephant for Baby

Aw, isn’t this wittle baby elephant the cutest?

I have been itching to play with this new set I purchased at 25% off a while back, Zoo Babies. And, of course I go for the most popular animal, the elephant. But, that’s only because I am following a color challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary. They have so many wonderful things going on over there right now. This is CCMC276. Just perfect for my little non-holiday baby gem.

I made a 4×4 card following another challenge over at Technostamper. This is their Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge 287. Very fun layout for a multi-layer card.

I embossed the Coastal Cabana using the Perfectly Polka Dot Embossing Folder. (That is probably the folder to own if you have to choose just one!) And on the Smokey Slate, I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Makes for a perfect, light pin striped background. Hard to tell, but the top of that is Scalloped Border Punched.

I double stamped the elephant ear and cut out the 2nd one to add a little fun dimension. Makes for a shadowing on the card photograph.

I’m either going to adhere this to a white gift bag with some red, blue and grey tissue or hang it from a bag as a tag for a baby gift. This little gem of a card needs to be seen!

Treat for You – Tutorial for Cracker

Yes! The tutorial for the cute crackers!

Actually, it’s a pictorial tutorial with added comments! Lol. I will have the description or instructions above the picture.

1. Start with a sheet of card stock or DSP that is 6 1/2 x 5 1/2.

2. With the 6 1/2 side parallel to the top, score in 4 places – 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2, 6.

3. Rotate paper so the 5 1/2 is now at the top.

4. Score in six places – 3/4, 1 1/4, 1 3/4, 3 3/4, 4 1/4, 4 3/4.

5. Place the 5 1/2 parallel to the top of the Envelope Punch Board. The next parallel score line is at 1 1/2.

6. Punch at 4 1/4.

7. Slide paper to the right to where the left edge lines up with 1/4, punch.

8. Remove paper. Fold paper down to the first score line.

9. Again, line left edge up at 4 1/4, Punch. It is a bit thick and may require a little muscle to punch. You can do it.

10. Slide folded paper to the right to where the left edge lines up with 1/4, punch.

11. Repeat this remove, fold to next score line, punch, slide and punch until you get to then end.

12. At the end, your last score to fold is small, 1/2″. It does work. Fold it and punch, then slide and punch, as you did before.

13. You are through punching!

14. Rotate punched paper as shown. (Mine is only on the score board for visibility.)

15. Using the lower set of 3 score lines, the upper most score line, fold up.

16. The middle score line, fold down, or back.

17. The last score line, fold up. Mine sort of didn’t stay up.

18. Basically, it’s a ‘fan fold’ you just did.

19. Rotate and follow these same steps to create the same ‘fan fold’ on the other side. Or mountain and valley – whatever you call it.

20. At this point, rotate again.

21. Fold all your score lines. The top 1/2″ section is folded down, whereas all the other score lines went up, opposite.

22. Apply glue or Sticky Strip to very edge. SNAIL didn’t work very well here for me. It popped open.

23. Fold up or together to secure along edge.

24. When your glue is set, push in the ends of your cracker, it will come together.

25. Your ‘cracker’ is now finished and ready to fill and decorate!

Now, I did initially follow a tutorial make the basic cracker box. It took me several tries and lots of scrap paper to get to this size that was to my liking. That was the hard part, figuring out proportions.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

I have a sweet little 4×4 share today. I just love how this came together. A little of this. A little of that. From my box of unused ‘stuff’ that is! I always seem to make the cutest cards from my scraps!

Hard to see in the photo, but the base is Whisper White and the Silver Glimmer Paper Borders the Pink Pirouette. I added the pinstriped detail with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. Nice! It just adds that feminine touch. I love this!

My inspiration for this sweet card is two of my co-workers birthdays – today! Happy Birthday Kelly and Beth! You both rock! You both are the sweetest people to work with! I hope your day is half as special as you are.

Stars and Stripes

Happy Memorial Day!

After late weekend class, I got up this morning to catch Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #87. A nice, clean, simple design that went well for my thoughts on making a card today. Yes, I went with something patriotic, stars and stripes!

The stars embossing folder I’ve had for quite sometime. Got in Holland at a dollar sort of store, for a couple od Euros! The stripes I create with our Simply Scored Scoring Board. The flag stamped image is from a new hostess set, Banner Greetings. Very cute! The Glimmer Paper stars (punched from a retired Stampin Up Star Punch) are accented with some retired, unpackaged Stampin’ Up Buttons. I think these were a bulk buy at one time. The card, hard to see, is my favorite, Naturals White.

Anyway, Thankful for You, our military.

Tuesday Tips

Today’s tip comes as I am getting ready for my Card Buffet this weekend. Lots of prep goes into these classes. Lots of designing, cutting, scoring……

I do pre-score my cards to make them nice and crisp for my stampers. And, why not, with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, it is a snap! I do from time to time have my card makers score parts of their projects. Well, this is one of those times.

The color of Stampin’ Up’s Simply Scored Scoring Tool is rather dark. So, to make it easier to see, I used a silver permanent marker to make a line more ‘visible’.

I marked the number ‘6’ all the way down. It is the center of the board. Makes it great to score the center of a project using different angles, or from going point to point on something.

The other item I highlighted on my Simply Scored Scoring Tool was on the Diagonal Plate. The back has an ‘arrow’ indicating which way the board should lay on to of the Scoring Tool itself. Hard to see if you are not familiar with this. So, I just colored that in as well.

See both my pictures at the end. It will become clear how I defaced my Stampin’ Up merchandise all in the name of our vision!
