Ah, the elegant combination of black and cream.

This was another choice on my November Card Buffet this past weekend. I love the elegant simplicity of it. It was a popular card too.

I started by embossing only the top inner portion of the Very Vanilla card stock. The paper was perpendicular to the folder. I used the bottom portion of the folder for this technique. After the embossing, four of the shapes were punched out in a row.

In doing so, it removed a slight embossed raised edge around each Mosaic shape. Lovely pieces left over – not sure what I’m going to do with them, something I’m sure.

A strip of DSP was added and a stamped greeting on this card. The addition of the itty bitty punched shapes with a rhinestone added that finishing touch. Done. It was a quick card. It would be great to remake for a variety of different occasions.

Elegant Lattice Butterflies

Remember the Lattice Die? I bet you haven’t used it in a while, have you?

After you see this card, you will tear up your craft room to find it and make this card. See for yourself. The two seem to match up perfectly! It’s like they were made for each other or something!

I got my inspiration for this card from DOstampingwithDawn. I just added butterflies instead of pearls because of last months promotion. This was a very popular card on last months Card Buffet, no doubt.

The background uses our wonderful White Vellum Card Stock. Just so elegant. Although the cards looks difficult, it’s really very simple to make! So, go find your Lattice Bigz die and get to creatin’!

Happy Birthday Aunt Janie

Happy Birthday Aunt Janie!

This is a special post today for my dear aunt who is having a special birthday today. I am not able to be with her as she lives far away. But, she is always near and dear in my heart.

The card I made her also contains her gift. See the photos below. I incorporated the ‘gift’ in the second layer of the tag sentiment from Chalk Talk. Nice bundle, the framelits and stamp set.

It’s very simple card, as that’s my style. I didn’t want anything to compete with the ‘gift’. It’s shiny enough as it is. I used a 1/8 Mini Brad to create the swing feature on the card. Those little brads are long. I just bent the edge to allow room for the swing. I added one at the bottom of the tag for a balanced look. So, pretty simple. Pretty elegant.

Oh, Hello

Oh, Hello. Everyone likes to receive a card, just because, right?

That’s what I made today, a card, just because. Just to say, ‘oh, hello’!

And, of course, for a card challenge! Today, I’m playing along with Create with Connie & Mary, sketch challenge 257. What a wonderful sketch it is.

My take is simple. Pretty much 2 colors, or variations there of. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits. Haven’t used them in a while – it was a nice change. The larger one is obvious to see, but the smaller, more decorative one, I cut out of Vellum! The base of the card and first layer is Naturals White. The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White.

And, of course, the bow is one of my paper bows that I’m into making these days.

I love cards like this that start with a great inspiration. They take minimal time to create. So, thanks Connie & Mary for a lovely sketch this week. Glad I found the time to play along.

3×3 Label Love Notecards

Open house fun, oh yah!

These are the Make’n Takes from my Open House this past weekend. Aren’t they just the most adorable cards you’ve seen?

I wanted to show off the new In-Colors and how they compared to other colors in Stampin’ Up’s color line. Each In-Color is paired up with three other colors. And, of course, you need to see how the new colors stamp, right? It was just a great way to show multiple products too.

I got my inspiration from here. But, I didn’t want to make full cards, so, I modified the design. A lot. I also had the guest make a little sleeve for the clear box to store the cards in. Makes for a quick gift, it is pictured first. I also went the extra step to use a different embossing folder on each card and envelope flap.

I used the following card stocks, Smokey Slate for the box band.

Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, and Pool Party for the Mr. & Mrs. card.

Strawberry Slush, Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette for the Happy Birthday card.

Pistachio Pudding, Pear Pizzaz, Wild Wasabi and Old Olive for the Cutest Baby Ever card.

Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Tangerine Tango, and Pumpkin Pie for the Best Friend card.

Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso for the Just for You card.
