Welcome to our Create with Connie and Mary Saturday blog hop!
Our theme this week features special card folds.
Who doesn’t LOVE a special fold???? I love, Love, LOVE them.
I ran across one on Facebook the other day that used a quarter of a sheet, 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, of card stock as its base. With Lavonne’s permission I have used her fold and decorated it my way for you today!
Look. At. The. Cuteness.
It is 3 dimensional!!
Look from the top –
And, best part of all, it folds flat for mailing!!!!
You can see the sentiment through a Stampin’ Up! envelope that its flat!
This adorable stamp set is a free hostess set with a qualifying order or party. The Ladybug Dies however, can be purchased by anyone.
I used Blends to color the ladybugs and the flowers.
So. How DID I make this??
- Once you learn the basics components of the card, you’ll be creating these in no time!
- Base. 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, scored in half at 2 3/4″.
- Bottom strip. 6 1/2″ x 1 1/4″, scored 1/2″ from the two edges.
- Middle. 2″ x 4 1/2″, score at 2 1/4″.
- Base folds in, crease it.
- Middle folds out in center, tabs go in / under. Crease both.
- Apply Tear & Tape to tabs on the middle and the strip. It will be on the front of the tabs.
- After folding in at score on base, fold flat. Take middle piece and fold flat.
- Line up two score lines, base with middle flush with the bottom.
- Adhere one tab at a time flush with bottom making sure centers stay lined up.
- Do other tab (one at a time it is easier to line up).
- Fold tabs back on the strip. Adhere one at a time, again being flush to the edges and the bottom.
- Repeat for other side.
- Card is flat.
- Stand it up, making sure the base is in and the middle is out.
Decorate as you like!
Notes :
- Keep in mind, whatever is in the middle flat can not interfere with itself when opened (I ran into this issue as I was placing these large headed flowers. One is up, one is down a bit).
- Place items on either side of score line.
- Clear acetate behind the middle items may be sturdier.
- Use Tear & Tape or a strong adhesive.
- I do not use liquid glues because if I need to reposition something, I just use an adhesive neutralizer (un-do) to remove and try again.
(I make patterns in a really bright bulk card stock for future reference. That is why my directions are in lime green!)
I hope you have LOVED my share today! If so, PLEASE leave me some love as you pin the images!
