Hi Stampers!
Do you ever wonder how you can use Stampin’ Up products in everyday life besides a card or scrapbook? Like in home decor? Well, perhaps our monthly hop can inspire you!
I must admit, I was stumped for something to create as home decor that was different from a framed item. I quickly came up with a few ideas. Here is one –
This project was inspired by wall art I’ve seen using scrabble tiles.
I seem to collect lots of things. Here shows some of my collection of heavy cardboard I have amassed. It’s from various Designer Series Paper packs and paper Pumpkin kits. Great for a project such as this!
I started with my Stampin’ Up grid paper and wrote the word ‘FAMILY’ going across. I then took our family names and plugged them until I got a look that I liked. Then, I knew how many tiles to cut. I would have liked to add our last name but it is short and would not work, so first names it was!
I cut the cardboard down to 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 squares using a heavy-duty cutter. I stamped them using the Hardwood background stamp in Crumb Cake directly to each tile.
It was a funny process as I had the stamp face up. I inked it up, then placed the tile face down on the stamp. I took an object close at hand in the craft room (a jar of Stampin’ Up embossing paste flipped over) and rubbed the tile. I removed it from the stamp and let it dry. Each time, I used a different spot on the stamp to make it random looking.
Once dried, I adhered the letters. I placed it on the floor to see the results. Loved it! Now, I just have to find a nice big wall area to hang it up!
