Happy Birthday Aunt Janie!

This is a special post today for my dear aunt who is having a special birthday today. I am not able to be with her as she lives far away. But, she is always near and dear in my heart.

The card I made her also contains her gift. See the photos below. I incorporated the ‘gift’ in the second layer of the tag sentiment from Chalk Talk. Nice bundle, the framelits and stamp set.

It’s very simple card, as that’s my style. I didn’t want anything to compete with the ‘gift’. It’s shiny enough as it is. I used a 1/8 Mini Brad to create the swing feature on the card. Those little brads are long. I just bent the edge to allow room for the swing. I added one at the bottom of the tag for a balanced look. So, pretty simple. Pretty elegant.

Big Thanks

Big things come in small packages, right? For today they do.

I made these cute little 3×3 cards for my Thank You’s for my July orders. They were pretty quick to make using the new Washi Tape. This stuff is awesome, I mean really, it is. I didn’t think I’d like it, until, until I used it. Makes making a card a snap! I just used it along side my stamped image and additionally on the back of the envelope to tie everything together. Nice, huh? Scroll for a look.

The nice ‘big’ theory here is that my note I wrote on a trimmed Post It, so the card can be reused. Double the thought or pass it on, however you see it.

I also included another Convention photo. It was right after Carolyn and I helped put birthday kits together for a local Utah children’s hospital. We strung banners, made notepads and packed the contents into boxes. I believe community service is extremely important. I wish there were more of these at Convention.

Special Someone Chalk Talk

Aren’t you just SO excited about Stampin’ Up?

This weekend the new 2013-2014 Idea Book & Catalog has gone live. You can order from that as well as the previous, 2012-2013 Idea Book & Catalog and even the Spring Mini! Whew. That’s a lot. So, you can really get your Stampin’ Up shoppin’ fill in!

Now, onto the reason I am posting. I’ve had new stuff for a while. I have not had the time to play with it though. So, today I decided to do just that. Might even reorganize my paper too.

Anyway. You know I love to be inspired by card challenges. Today I’m going with Freshly Made Sketches. Challenge #88. Pop over. Take a look. Come back.

I placed my card upright from the sketch. Something simple. Playing with the Chalk Talk stamp set and the Quatrefancy Specialty DSP (who comes up with these names anyway??). I also added a hint of color along the bottom of the tag with my favorite, Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch.

I wasn’t sure if I should use Craft White Ink or Versamark. So, I tried both. I took a comparison photo below to show how my two samples looked. I must say, the Versamark made for a cleaner, clearer stamped image. And, yes, I just cut my tag out. Not too bad, I must say.

I will be taking photos of my paper reorganization as I go. Stay tuned. Might even play with new stuff some more!
